A common Case advertising barlow in well used condition. I did look up Russell Badgett Jr and it turns out he had quite a life, Navy pilot during WW2, multiple companies, the Russell Badgett Jr Coal Co in Kentucky, banking and construction companies that built the PA Turnpipe and Alligator Alley in Florida.

A bolster you don't come across all that often, A. Baldwin & Co,Inc, New Orleans, Goins has 1874 to 1939, they were a hardware sporting goods store. Definitely made by Schrade Cut Co, they match up exactly even the fonts on the bolster stamp.

Thanks Ike, I thought the history behind the man was more important that the knife, one of the main things I love about vintage knife collecting, researching the history behind the knife.

Thanks David, one of the great things with collecting barlows, you will never find very bolster ever made although Darrell Maines is probably real close to doing that.

Thanks for that link, I read the article. It turns out that Mr Badgett lived only about 100 miles from me, which makes this all the more interesting.

Sweet Baldwin John, beautiful knife, great scales still in great shape. Exceeeeeeelllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeent.

Not so old, but hopefully decent enough looking.

Nice Barlow. Did you just get this one on eBay? I had a Baldwin Barlow on my watch list that ended around the 11th.

The bottom one in the group shot of 5 with the red jigged bone is a W. Bingham Cleveland Barlow. I think they went out of business in 1948 and that Barlow has no half stop on the main blade, but does have it on the pen. For what it's worth.

Thanks Iman, beautiful bone on that one. Odd that there's a half stop on the pen but not the main, Makes for a smooth opener on that spear anyway. Really great group of knives there, I continue to be impressed by your collection, you have some truly beautiful knives.

Congratulations on the win, and the good price too! I was surprised myself how low it went. Not my style really but I almost threw a bid in there to see if I could get it cheap.
