Got Barlows ?

Post by philco »

Anybody collect BARLOW knives?

If you've got em, it's time to show em.

Let's see how many different makers and variations are out there!

Nice Barlows guys. ::tu:: I'm looking forward to getting a large barlow out of the mail in the next couple of days. Wish it had pretty Red bone handles on it though. Who could love big knifes and not like a Granddaddy barlow? ::shrug::

This is one of my favorites. An older style Case Tested, with flat beveled bolsters and a cool blade!

I like those GECs! They are the perfect coin pocket knife!

Here are some more older ones; 4 old Russells, and a Camillus repro at the bottom.

Great knives, guys. Man, that Tested Case set my heart to throbbing. What...A...Knife.

Here are ten Robeson Barlows. Sorry for the size of those first three photos. I do not know why they are so large.

Now that I have finally figured out how to post these pictures, here are a couple more Barlows I have.

Philco- Thanks for all the help on getting pictures posted.

#1 is a Russell Barlow 1875-1975 Commemorative Issue
#2 SC506 Dark Covers, 19 SCHRADE 83 Shield
#3 SC506 Scrimshaw
#4 Schrade USA 206
#5 Schrade 506, Single Blade, Brass Bolsters

This last one is an SC506, however, it has only a single blade versus two like the other Barlows I have posted and it also has brass bolsters. Anyone have a comment on this particular one??

Now that I can post pictures, I'll work on taking better pictures.

Nice collection of Robesons Charlie! Very comprehensive!
You wouldn't take a right arm for that Terrier would ya?? 8)
I carried a Robeson Barlow for years. Here's a pic of it with a Case. Note how it is more pocket-friendly, with the eased shape.
It's a nice carry. I appreciate Robeson's "pocketease" philosophy!

Thanks, UpNorth.
Most of Robeson's barlows were made on a true sleeveboard frame with rounded bolsters. I've seen catalog images of the one with squared off bolsters still carrying the "RCC" embossing. I've never had an opportunity to buy one like that. What a find that would be.
The two blade Terrier with the "TCC" bolsters is really rare I think. I've shown it to avid Barlow collectors and none have ever seen one like it. That knife came off Ebay.

The ivoroid handled Robeson with the "RCC" embossed bolsters and the spey master blade is a good rare one too. I don't think that knife was ever used or sharpened, but it does have some pitting/staining one would expect in a ninety-three to ninety-nine year old carbon steel knife. I love the glazed finish on the blades of that knife.

Uh......I have a good right arm. I have no use for another. And, no, the Terrier is not for sale.
