Time to get this thread going again! I have grown to have a bit of obsession with old Hibbards.
Here is a 3 1/2" bare head jack w/ killer picked brown bone scales and pinched bolsters.

A 3 5/8" half whittler w/ worn old picked bone scales. I'm sure she was a stunner in her hey day!
Re: Old HIBBARD, SPENCER & BARTLET---OVB---Knives
I have this Barlow that is just marked "HIBBARD" with a big (H) on the bolsters.

There are some beauties in this thread.
rattlesnake, that cattle knife you posted a few years back is stunning. The crocus and glaze finishes are perfect! I wont even begin to comment on the other stupendous knives here.
Real nice Barlow you have there knives-are-quiet, the bolster is so clean and clear.
That stag is really pretty JKB, and the advertising knife is a nice bit of history.
What were some of the companies that made HSB knives other than NYKC?

I know Robeson, Camillus, Walden Knife Co, and possibly a German knife maker(early on) all made knives for Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett.
If anyone can shed anymore light it would be appreciated!

A ebony pen knife. Etch reads: Neal Brennan.
Neal Brennan had some nice taste in cutlery.
The etch makes me think this was a NYKC?

Brown bone swell centered pen knife. Looks like a early Utica or Camillus pattern to me. What do you think?

A grand daddy brown bone Barlow. NYKC in my opinion due to the bolsters. Once again if anyone can teach me differently I would really appreciate it!

Wow thegreedygulo! That is a wonderful knife . I have my Grandfathers (on both sides) pocket knives. One is a KaBar trapper of my paternal Grandfather and a Remington stockman from my maternal Grandpaw. These will go to the 3rd or 4th generations very soon. Heirloom knives and other "sharp" objects are a great way to tie the family's heritage and mores to younger generations.

Thanks Bonehead.I've had it for several years. Most likely made by Camillus. If it was a NYKC made it would have ringed bolsters.
