A 2fer Kabar
The original large stockman had great blades, but a busted backspring on the secondaries and off-gassed yellow cell handles.
I converted the original frame and master blade to a single blade jack and added some old elk stag handles that I dyed with ferric chloride.
The spey and sheepsfoot were installed into an old Camillus Scout frame and bone handles added.
I don't hold out much hope for finding one, but if I should happen to come up with an original secondary backspring, i'd be hard pressed to restore it back to stockman. At 4-3/8", it was one big, bad knife in it's day.

Nice saves Rob!
They are both nice looking knives and look very usable.
I especially like single clip blade knives.
How is the fit of the blades on the two blade knife; did you have problem getting to fit together in the frame without hitting, or they on different springs?
Great work!

Re: A 2fer Kabar
Thanks Glenn! The 2-blade would be a handy user.
Thank you too, Dale! As you'd know, the stockman secondaries are kicked to fall together from opposing ends. To widen the well, I used the Camillus Scout inner liners/spacers. They were the thick brass type. One on each side of the blades made a well large enough for both blades to close without rubbing. I did have to slightly adjust/shorten the ends of the backspring to get the blades to fall right in the open position. But no other alterations were needed.
If I live to be a 1000 years old, it'll still amaze me how many of these frames, backsprings and blades can be mixed and matched to create an endless number of knives!

Excellent!
I was wondering if you had to use any spacers.
Nice job.

Re: A 2fer Kabar
If you have a chance, snap a pic top down looking into the closed knife. I like to see how those things end up fitting.
Thanks,
Glenn

Re: A 2fer Kabar
Here ya go Glenn. Now that i've gone and actually gotten the knife out of the drawer and refreshed my memory, only 1 spacer was required to fit the blades in. Notice on the top left, the sheepsfoot has a relief ground in for the spey to pass by, but looking at the bottom right side, the spacer was required for the sheepsfoot to have space enough to bypass the spey. I know I did have two spacers at one point, but decided one would do and it made for a slimmer profile. Hope this helps.

I hate to spoil your fun, but I have that backspring. Totally your call though.

Well that certainly shines a new light on the subject, doesn't it?
PM sent, Bob. Thanks!

Thanks for that pic. I like to see how people get those things to fit. Again, nice work!
