What do the thread icons represent?

Post by jerryd6818 »

I'm guessing the ones with a black dot are threads I've posted in????

I know when the thing in the circle is colored, that thread has posts I haven't read.

What does it mean when the what ever the hell that is in the circle, is pulsing.
AAPK Web Page.jpg
Edit: It's been worked out, so to consolidate several posts, here's what they mean in a nutshell.
  • The dot on the thread icon means you've posted in that thread.
  • If the center of the icon is orange it means you haven't read the latest posts in that thread.
  • If the center of the icon is NOT orange it means there are no new posts since the last time you looked at the thread (only works if you looked at the last page of a multi-page thread)
  • If the icon is pulsing it means it's a popular thread with more than 25 posts.
My thanks to all who contributed and to Miller Bros for moving this thread.

The dot means you posted on that thread.
The color pulsing means that it's a hot subject right now.

I believe. ::tu::

Is there someplace on the web site that tells about this? I've looked but couldn't find anything. (which doesn't mean anything :lol: )

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the index page and it tells you what all that means :wink:

I had seen that and had figured it out before I stumbled across it. BUT It doesn't explain the dot and the pulsing, that is what was driving me crazy. (no cheap jokes from the peanut gallery about a short trip)

The black dot means you have posted a reply in that thread.

The "pulsing" with the white color center= No new unread posts

The "pulsing" with and orange center= Unread new posts

You're close. You're dead on with the black dot.

White color center = No new unread posts ----------- Pulsing = several people viewing the thread.
Orange color center = New unread posts ------------- Pulsing = several people viewing the thread.

Not pulsing means there is no one viewing the thread or only one or two. I don't know what the threshold number is on that. Bryan could probably explain it.

Well, if you want to get all technical about it............ :lol:

It has nothing to do with who is viewing the particular thread.

If the thread has 25 or more posts it will be considered a popular thread and will pulse ::nod:: 8)

Thank you. I do want to get all technical about it. With your added piece of information, I think we're getting very close to nailing it down. My friends don't call me Mr. Persnickety for nothin'. :lol:

I've been thinking there could (should) be a forum topic for things such as this. Things like posting pictures, picture taking suggestion threads and other "how to" topics related to maneuvering and working within the forum would be included. Some of the things the older members take for granted.

Opinions?

Your welcome Jerry! ::handshake::

I think this type of stuff should all be posted in this forum, it is the closest thing we have right now for this type of information ::nod::

I see what you're saying. I wonder how many read the posts in that forum. I know I never go there. I hate to see the site cluttered up with a ton of speciality forums, there are more than plenty already. I, like I think a lot of people do, pretty much stick to the 'view new posts' link and only go looking for forums when I have a new topic to post.

This is not a critisim of how the site is laid out. I think it's actually laid out pretty well for all the different subjects that are covered.

Can you move threads? If so, maybe this thread should be moved down to that forum and I'll re-name it.
