Post by shwhitney »

Hi , I was wondering if anyone knows if this Western Boy scouts fixed blade knife , comes with a wooden as seen in photos, all the ones I see have the same handle , that are completely different from the one I have, so do you think it is a replacement or original handle? year and info would help, Thanks for all your knowledge, Shawn

Looks like a replacement to me. Western always used fiber spacers on that type of fixed blade.

To the best of my knowledge, all the Official Boy Scout fixed blade knives made by Western had either stacked leather or delrin handles. None were produced with a wooden handle that I'm aware of.

Can you tell me what the tang stamp says on the opposite side of the knife ? That may help establish a date range.

That tang stamp was used beginning in 1951 and Western produced scout knives through 1979. Sorry I can't narrow it down more than that.

Shawn, If you are interested I posted a Western Scout on the Western forum, Under fixed
blades. Much like your knife with original handles.
