Hey guys, I was bored the other and was digging through a bunch of knives i had poked away and found this. Its a Hibbard Spencer Bartlett 212, and i call it a "pruning" knife but im not sure if that's right or not. I don't have a book that covers this brand an i hoped someone could check it out in Goins for me to get a reference because im not finding anything on the internet about it.
Thank ya much,
Bill
Hibbard Spencer Bartlett 212
Re: Hibbard Spencer Bartlett 212
Just a guess but the blade looks like a cotton sampler. If so that would make it more rare than a pruner.

I think it's a maize knife or "corn topper".

I believe it has also been called a 'Budding' knife. Although, I'm leaning towards the Maize knife.

I know Robeson made knives for Hibbard, Spenser and Bartlett during the 1940's.
Here is a Robeson 211007 horticulture knife stamped by Robeson.
The frame is similar to your HSB.
Possibly, your maize knife was a Robeson product.

Thank you guys for all your info, i really appreciate it! I have been out of town for a few days and haven't gotten to reply. I meant to call it a cotton sampler not a pruning knife i feel dumb lol. From now on i guess we will just call it a maze knife...
Thanks again everyone,
Bill
