What did I get myself into.........
What did I get myself into.........
I've been staring at this old hulk for days wondering what I could do with it. I had no nickel to replace the bolsters with, but I found a big fuse at work that had a giant brass washer on it... .......
I'm not sure exactly what the parent knife is called and I sure don't know what you'd call the end result. It was a lot of work to make if function properly, and I don't think I like working brass or wood, but I learned a lot from this one.
This stuff could get habit forming!
Anybody know exactly what it started as? All I know for sure is it was an Imperial. Date???
Thanks for looking, Shannon

AWESOME WORK!! I love seeing your customs!! What's next in line??!!!!
Re: What did I get myself into.........
Sweet Job!!!
Judging solely from the nail pull, I would say it's a '36 - '52 stamp with the abbreviated "Prov." R.I. stamp. (no U.S.A.)
The blade configuration would make it an engineers knife.
I'm sure Miller Bro` will be along soon to correct me.
Again, NICE knife!

Well done. Love the bolster treatment.
Re: What did I get myself into.........
Thank you all...I am humbled.
Muskrat man, I don't even know for sure what "pinched" is I cut the lines in with a handsaw file. The flat spots on the ends are from carefully sticking it to a belt sander. You fellers will have to look over me because I really don't know poop from apple butter when it comes to knives.

Re: What did I get myself into.........
the lines are often referred to as "threading" (no idea why) and the dimples at the ends are referred to as "pinched" it looks super

Slanted, threaded AND pinched bolsters!? Buddy, you know more about knives then you're giving yourself credit for! That is awesome work! What a future you have as a knife mechanic, don't stop.

Re: What did I get myself into.........
Thank you all again. I'm gonna give it to an old friend of mine. He's only 71 but the guy is a walking talking time machine. I always enjoy every minute I spend around him. I showed it to him before it was finished and he seemed real struck on it. I personally don't like brass and won't ever carry it, but he likes it and I'm sure he'll use it (ain't that what they're for?)
