Ka-Bar Kollector Klub Knives

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

Ka-Bar Kollector Klub Knives

Post by nutoknives »

:wink: THE KA-BAR COLLECTOR'S CLUB KNIVE"S ::hmm::
The start of the Ka-bar Collector's Club was formed in 1976 with the release of the 200th Anniversary USMC Knife, Some say it all started with the release of the 1973 Vietnam memorial USMC knife or at the very least that is the knife that sparked the new found interest of Ka-Bar and the company getting new people started with collecting of their products as all manufacturers hope to have interest in their products which mean's more sale's, lets face it if no interest no sales. The Club's demise came in 2005 as sales and lack of interest finally brought the Club to an end. Fortunately during the 30 year's of the club they released alot of great knive's as all will attest once we get this thread going, keep in mind that all knives in fact very few were produced by Ka-Bar or in later year's of the club Alcas, CASE and QUEEN were the manufacturer's of most of the club knive's with Ka-Bar having control over Quantity and Quality. I will ask for help during this thread as there are way to many knive's, I do have most of the club knive's but will ask for help with some, from my fellow Ka-bar enthusiest.

Please post photo's of only the knive's I ask for as to keep in order

THIS THREAD AS THE KA-BAR YEARLY CK KNIVE'S IS DEDICATED TO MY COUSIN WARREN (USN, CIA) WHO PASSED DURING 2011 AND PASSED HIS LOVE OF KNIVES ONTO ME THANKS FOR TAKING A LOOK AND HELPING WITH THIS THREAD

OK WHO HAS THE 1976 USMC 200th ANNIVERSARY FIRST CLUB KNIFE (PLEASE POST PHOTO'S) IT LOOKS LIKE THIS

Jutold52 that is the one that got things started for Ka-Bar as far as gaining interest again, you are showing the 1973 Vietnam Memorial Knife very nice but not the one we are looking for it looks just as the picture I posted and will be a serialized USMC 0-1500 Thanks for showing your 1973 and please look for the 1976 as that is officially the 1st knife of the Club Knive's for Ka-bar

Nutokives

Here is mine given to me by my first wife in '76 while we were stationed in Saudi Arabia. She's also my only wife.
This Kabar is the knife I am most proud of and it will never be sold. Suspect a lot of other Marines that have this lnife feel the same way.

Semper Fi Top. I'd give my left one for one of those. That has to be my new Holy Grail. Probably about as hard to find as a copy of your boot camp platoon book though.

Does this add to the discussion?
I belonged to the Kabar Collector's Club at the beginning
I don't remember the details of the Marine Commenorative offer, but likely, could not afford an early number in those days ( 1977? )
OR, the early numbered ones were gone, either way, can't recall
My first post, been watching Forum for a year now , wanted to contribute to OP request

Thanks jerryd6818,
Do not worry as I will do an official version once this thread is complete if needed or as we go along we can have post that are not in the correct order removed by the person who posted said post. The knife in question I can not find in any of my material, kabar did both a 50 year Pearl Harbour Commemoritive and a 60 but art work is not as you show in ebay post. Ka-Bar as many other companies would do special runs for anyone if order was enough and 1 can buy a blank USMC and have someone do art work (very common) hey for less than 60 bucks not a bad deal Thanks for sharing. I will be showing the next knife shortly and Thanks for all comments and photo's as this thread is going to take awhile and will require everyone's help as there are alot of knive's to follow.

Only thing about that Pearl Harbor knife is the blade is stamp 440. If that means the steel it was made out of something might be amiss as all Kabar combat knives were and are 1095 steel.

I took the 440 to be a serial number. It's not in a normal position to indicate steel type. ::shrug::

Edit:
Since nutoknives asked. Here are pictures of my KA-BARs. I'll have to split this up in several posts.

The first is a Camillus I picked up new back in, I think, the '70s sometime. The handle has been 'aged'.

Will try to find info or if anyone has info please feel free to share

OK This is off to a great start and thanks for helping. :D

2nd Knife of Collection also from 1976 as it was our Nation's 200th Bicentennial and what better than a RED, WHITE, and BLUE handled TRAPPER with a Star Spangled Box, COA, and a nice white Leather Holder. These are fairly easy to obtain as they had a run of 7500 knive's. Mine is #538 and please feel free to post pics of yours.

We can discuss if we would like to keep the current posts or ask the people that posted to remove as that is up to everyone but so far Top has knife #1 of Collection as all other's do come later on.

Thanks Gino you should see alot of real nice knive's here as most are unused not carried or sharpened Thanks in part that they were created as a collectable by Ka-bar.

The 1977 Collector Knive's #3 and #4 are a serialized set of Dog Head Folder's with one being single blade and one being 2 blade. Knive's have sanbar stag and look real nice as Ka-Bar had control of the quality of these knive's, if you do see some imperfection's more than likely just my fat hands mucking up the knive's as this was a 2 Day affair. The Stag Knive's are a favorite of mine as you will see Thanks for the help guys and please post picks of the 1977 serialized set's if you have, mine are #0070 and are in very nice shape this is 1 of 1100 sets.

Very nice knives. It must be a pleasure to own them.

You don't happen to have a spare of that Viet Nam Commemorative I see in the background (left side)? Or know where I can get one?

Edit: Adding more fighting knives for nutoknives

These are all KA-BAR brand. The first one is that Short model they came out with last decade. I really like it.
