Another sure give away is LONG bolsters. English and German did this becuase nickely silver was cheaper to use than bone or ivory. Less handle---- More bolster. Watch and you will see that I am right.

Thanks for the compliments guys
They sure are Bob, the lip hangs over the edge of the knife handle and allows your fingernail to get under there easily. Also, I was surprised to see that the punch blade tang was laminated constructionWelderBob wrote:I like the punch on those HSB's...alot easier to open...

TJ, I love those old Ulsters. Great steel in them.
I've got one like that in my EDC rotation.

Re: The All Scout Knives Thread
I am told this is one of the rarer Remington Scouts. It books at $585 mint.
I bought it for the gorgeous handles, (I can’t find a crack or chip in them), and of course for the shield.
I wish there was more of the blades left, but if there was, I wouldn’t have been able to afford it!
Oh yes, I did better than the $75 price tag.

This just dropped by for a visit. Seems my quiet brother has been keeping secrets.
My two cents and worth just what you paid.

Dale,
I posted this one I have earlier in this thread, but here it is again for comparison with yours.
I really like the bone handle ones

Dimitri,
You don’t happen to have an extra blade for that 963 do you.
I got around to looking closer at the pins on mine and there are cracks in the bone at the front pins on both sides. Oh well, they are still beautiful handles!

Re: The All Scout Knives Thread
Here's a nice ole Utica scout that Basser5 was kind enough to give me recently. I love the wide bail, the swedge on the main blade, and that long pull.
Thanks again Tim.

Re: The All Scout Knives Thread
Up in the middle of the night and ran onto this on ebay. Went for $22.50. Is this legit? I know I don't get out much but I don't recall seeing this blade combination before. Seller claimed it's a Remington R4243 made in 1994. I thought about bidding on it but don't know enough to keep from getting burned.

It looks legit to me. It matches mine. Great price too. The original from the 1920's would be worth overb $2,000.jerryd6818 wrote:Up in the middle of the night and ran onto this on ebay.
