boker knives?
Re: boker knives?
Here's a Magnum Pioneer I recently ordered from the 2010/2011 catalog. Nice knife! Well built, smooth blade operation. Christmas present for my stepson. Bull

Re: boker knives?
Nice one Keith! Did you get that at the online auction? I saw one and "almost" bid on it. If that is it, I'm glad I didn't run the price up for you!

Picked up a 3 pack the other day. Can't wait till someone comes out with a definitive Boker reference book.

Re: boker knives?
Until that time comes Jay, I can tell you a little bit about those.
The knife in front looks like a 7474 stock pattern. Made between 1976-1983. The handle material was called "Del-bone" by Boker. Made in USA, Maplewood, NJ.
The middle knife was made in 1994. Pattern #2525. Every knife made that year had that shield. 125 year anniversary of the Solingen factory. Made in Solingen, Germany
The last knife is the tough one. Made in 1990 according to the blade etch. Boker did etch the year of manufacture for a few years in the late 1980s-early 1990s. I can tell you that the current 280 pattern no longer looks like that one. Around 2001, they changed to the current serpentine shape for the 280 whittlers.
Made in Solingen, Germany.

Re: boker knives?
If anyone could write that book, it would be Blue. For the time being, this forum is the definitive Boker reference book! That's one of the great things about this board, there is so much information, easily searchable and copiously illustrated.
Re: boker knives?
I picked up my first Bokers at a knife show yesterday. I really like these two but I don't know anything about them. They are nice knives and the price was good.

Re: boker knives?
What's the tang stamp on those Viking?
The top one appears to read BOKER and the bottom BOKER/USA.

Re: boker knives?
That's correct. the top one says BOKER and on the reverse side of the tang has a tree. The bottom one says BOKER USA and on the reverse side of the tang a tree and 1463.

Re: boker knives?
Awesome! Can you post a pic of the reverse side tang stamps?
The 1463 pattern is a new one to me. I've never seen one, and none of the catalogs I have show that pattern. The closest I have is a stock pattern shown in a 1941 ad. The top one looks kind of like a 9695 pattern but I'm not sure. Boker made so many swell end jacks.
I'll venture a guess. The BOKER tang stamp was used from circa 1930 to 1970. The federal shield was used by Boker from the early 1900s through the 1950s. So the top knife would have been made circa 1930-1950s.
The bottom would have been made circa 1940s to 1950s.
(edit) I forgot to say that both of those were made in Maplewood, NJ, USA.
I'm assuming both are bone. What is the length on those?
Nice find. I like those a lot!

Re: boker knives?
I can't get a shot of the tang marks. The tree is faint on both of them. I tried the scanner but no luck. They are both nice jigged bone with rich coloring. The big one is 3 3/4 and the smaller one is 3 1/4. Thanks, pretty cool to know they were both made in the USA and where. They seem like quality knives.

Re: boker knives?
I was the only bidder on this pristine little pen knife. Not sure why, except that the smaller knives don't seem to draw much interest. Boker USA 1153.

Re: boker knives?
Nice one trail,
you got that one only because I overlooked it somehow! hahaha.
I think you are correct. The smaller knives don't bring as much. That one appears to have delrin handles - that could also lower the value. Looks like a 1976-1983 era knife.
Blade etch is nice and clean. That is a nice one, appears mint from the photo!

Re: boker knives?
Miller Bro.s, if yours has bone handles, I'd say circa 1945-1955.

Re: boker knives?
About forty years ago when I was 10 or so, the local grocery/hardware/feed store carried Boker Tree Brand in a case. I drooled over those knives as I grew up. Eventually I left home for school and work and never got around to getting a Boker. Recently I finally ordered a new Boker 7588 in green bone scales and I am very impressed. Fit and finish is top notch and the blades all have a crisp snap. Boker's stockman design is very clever in how the middle sheepsfoot blade lies in the handle without protruding. Can't wait to get another one, maybe even a vintage model. Great knife well worth the price.

Denny, If you like Boker, I have one listed on Ebay and will be listing more. Gary
