New Green River butcher knife made to look old

Post by knives-are-quiet »

Got a Butcher friend of mine who asked me to make him a new quality 10 inch Butcher knife.
The one he has been using for years has seen better days.
He also stated he wanted it to look old and used.
I chose a new carbon steel Russell Green River 10" butcher blade.
Tarnished her up with a vinegar bath.
Used some weathered black walnut I gathered in the local forest.
Used stainless pins.
Also sharpened it like a razor.
Just gave it to him today and he was very pleased.
He used it for the first time as I watched him cut up ten choice T bones for me as payment for putting together the knife for him.
We are gonna' eat well this weekend.

Now that's a tool! Using something that has heritage and handwork in it like a customized Russell shows a man who has pride in his craft.
