Those are great knives.
That three blade, equal-end cattle knife is really pretty.

Robeson made knives for Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett. And, they made that pattern, both as a three blade and a four blade, with the Federal shield and the lined bolsters. I've owned one, a four blade, but no longer have it. The blades were very similar in shape.

However, that doesn't jump out at me as being Robeson Bone.

And, Robeson made precious few knives with long pulls. It would have to be early to be a Robeson.

I'm thinking somebody else made it.

Maybe our bone jigging historian, Miller Bros. can ID the maker.

Heck, maybe it was Miller Broos.

Here's some pictures of two HS&B knives I bought today. The tickler is a bit unusual in that the bolsters appear to be steel(as are the liners)and the liner edge nearest the back spring is sort of milled while the edge nearest the blade is plain.
The 1/2 congress has a mark on the blade itself but a lot is obliterated.
Price was right:$5 apiece.

I'm reading the jigged bone handles on that knife and they're saying New York Knife Co.

A real beauty.

This is my only H,S,B, OVB knife I own. I believe the handle is 4 pinned rosewood. The spearpoint main blade has O.V.B. etched on it, but can only be seen using a magnifying lense. The tang is stamped O-V-B, the secondary blade tang is stamped also. The knife has great blade snap still. I keep this one in my display cabinet along with my other treasured collectibles and antiques. ::tu:: Bull ( P.S. The O.K.C.A. Dec. 11/2010 mini-show was great as usual. )

Old Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co elephant toenail (circa 1855 - 1960). This knife belonged to my Grandfather who died in 1945 and it has been in my family ever since. My dad gave it to me last year and I cherish it.

A pocket knife is still an intimate personal possession of the individual who carries it and consequently deserves the best of materials, finish and workmanship in its production. (Quoted from Boker's 1928 cutlery catalog).

You are right the OKCA December Mini Show is usually excellent.
Lots of knives and low prices.
I missed it last year. I hope to make it this year.

I followed the auction on that HSB trapper. I thought that was a beautiful knife.

You got a nice one there.

Do you have any idea who might have made that for Hibbard?

paulsvintage that's a real beauty! Congrats. I think the knife's shield is the perfect compliment to the bone handles.

Paulsvintage, Cato; both are showing some fine knives. Cato, that E-Z opener looks to be very clean and fine lined. It seems that all H.S.B. OVB knives, whoever their manufacturer was, all seemed to be very precisioned. Appears they had tight quality control. Nice knives guy's! ::tu:: Bull

Cato, those two bone handled jacks are very nice.

I'm a bit skeptical of the Wharnecliff. That stamp looks quite modern. Could that be a Jim Parker special?
