My first German Eyes

Post by 69gto »

Hi everybody,
I'm happy to post on the forum my first Eyes! I've recently started collecting and really like the Schleipers. These are mostly Copperheads and I've included a few photos and notes. Any comments would be appreciated as I'm interested in learning as much as possible on these nice pieces. Except where indicated, all are one eye blades; tangs stamped C. Schleiper/arched over eye and above Solingen Germany (on two lines):

Jim Bowie - red jigged bone; The Owens Coal Miner Special; round shield picture of coal miner; tang stamped GX-RB 1985
Deep Red Jigged Bone - tang stamped GX
Pinkish-red jigged bone/lines - tang stamped GX; has bolder etched stamp on blade
Smooth Green Bone; not marked with GX; shield looks very close to the others but has slightly smaller eye and Solingen signature
Grey Jigged Bone; tang stamped GX; smaller etched logo than on other GX s; and bomb shield is slightly different at top corners
Dark Stag - tang stamped GX-DS; round shield
Yellow - GXY
Pink/yellow/blue-green; two eyes on blade (etched on three lines:premium quality/hammer forged/solingen-germany)
+Light Stag Stockman - tang stamped 350 DS; eye over Germany on sheep foot and pen blades.

Thanks, Keith. I really like the green bone, too; although, you love all your kids the same, right!

Sure thats a good thing to say....

I look at my knives like ladys, so I can like one more.

I sure have a strong like for your YELLOW eye.

She just jumps out and says take me home.

I want to live with lots of my YELLOW sisters.

I just happen to have a few.... ::tu::
