Art Ullis folder
I picked up a nice old Art Ullis #209 folding hunter the other day. Try as I might, not much info pops up when searching. Art Ullis, Tacoma Wash. Anybody know much about them?

Wow! No info out there? Guess I scored an ultra rare, one of a kind knife! (not).

Nice looking knife. You can Google "Art Ullis knife". Looks like they were made in Germany (excellent knives BTW). What is on the Tang?

Found the following on WorthPoint. It was originally part of a description on eBay so take it for what it's worth.
"Offered for your consideration is a BIG Art Ullis Buffalo Skinner. These were inported by Art Ullis, Inc. out of Tacoma Washington. The blade is marked on the left side "Art Ullis, Tacoma 7 Washington Made In Germany" and also has the intials "AU" stamped below a rising sun logo framed in a square."
Saw both Germany and Japan mentioned as the country of origin for the knives he imported.

Re: Art Ullis folder
Art Ullis was a cutlery importer and wholesaler based in Tacoma, Washington, that went out of business sometime in the late 1970s or early 1980's. As I recall there was still a salesman calling by the store in 1978 or 79.
I have a couple Ullis lock blade folders from Germany that have good blades but the rest of the workmanship is poor. I also have a Ullis cimeter from Germany that is excellent and has processed many deer and other game over the years.
