All About Pocket Knives

My son is refurbishing a knife for a friend. He is curious to know the name of the maker.
It says "Sheriff Knife" on one side with a tang stamp of a fist holding three arrows. The backside says SOLINGEN/GERMANY.

Does anyone know the name of the maker or factory that made this knife?

Dale...Take a look in the "European and Other Foreign Manufacturers" thread. Daddystrawboss posted some questions and pictures about his Sheriffs' knife back in March. Maybe he found out info on his knife that he'd share with you. Just a thought.

the fist with three arrows was the brand of voos, schlieper; agent for wenger. the brand was imported by precise international 1954-1966.

i just happen to own several of these voos. here is one i rehandled(they all seem to have cheap faux stag). when it was given to me, the man showed me how strong the steel was by piercing coins, with no loss of sharp(or tip )

He put the original handle, leather ring with aluminum ring spacer, back on the knife. He had to straighten the guard and tighten up the whole handle. He finished it & it looks really good.
He took it home with him as it belongs to his roommate. I will have to have him bring it back so I can take a pic of the finished knife.

This will probably not help, but there is one on ebay that may be a match to yours. At least sounds like it.

That looks just like the knife my son worked on, but it has more wear than the one my son refurbished.
The guy offered it to my son for $25, I think he may buy it. It looks like a deal if the price of the one on ebay is realistic, however it hasn't had any bidders yet.
