SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON

The first Robeson knives were imported by Millard Robeson from England and Germany exclusively. This continued from 1979 until 1896 when Robeson began manufacturing knives in the United States. Since inception, the company has gone through several reorganizations & eventually ended up as a Queen Cutlery brand.

Just acquired this Robeson EE small jack--3 & 1/8 inches. Very nice overall condition but has been cleaned/polished but not to aggressively. Really nice top quality craftsmanship with W & T. Springs perfectly flush when either blade fully extended, solid no wobble when either blade open, no gaps and perfect transitions. It is celluloid ::dang:: So will have to segregate and watch it. But it sure is beautiful with no indication of any problems yet. It is a model or pattern number 822106. Tang stamped Robeson/Shuredge/Rochester on primary and Robeson/U.S.A./Cutlery on secondary or pen. I think these tang stamps would indicate original production sometime between 1922--1939. I like the shield on this one. Any comments or more information greatly appreciated! Thanks, Lloyd

Duffer, that sure is beautiful cell. Heres one of my best Robeson knives. One of my favorite patterns also. I've had a crav'in for punch blades lately.

Thanks Monte, David and Joe for the nice remarks about this Robeson cell Jack! I just love these vintage cell folders ::shrug:: but you have to be careful with them. This one is 75+ years old and hasn't gassed out yet. Heck, I will probably gas out before this one does ::woot:: Lloyd

PS: Monte that is a wonderful Robeson--love the Shield! Ken that is one beautiful and classy Robeson Whittler ::tu::

Could you please share the pattern number?

That is is not a common knife. I don't think I have one.

I did copy some Ebay photos several years ago of a knife marked "F. C. CO.", which stands for Fulton Cutlery Company. Every Fulton I've ever seen was a Robeson knife and most still had a bit of the Robeson tang stamp remaining.

Whether Fulton bought factory seconds, ground off the tangs and restamped them or Robeson did the work themselves, I have no idea.

Just recently acquired these two Robeson folders. The smaller pen folder is 3.25 inches long closed and the the Jack is 3.50 inches long closed. The Pen Blade shows no use with full blades and no evidence of having been sharpened. The bigger Jack is in excellent condition showing minor use with almost full blades lightly sharpened. The pen is main tang blade stamped Robeson/Shuredge (script)/Rochester and the smaller blade tang stamped Robeson/USA/Cutlery. The Jack is main blade tang stamped Robeson (script) /Shuredge/USA and pen blade tang stamped Robeson/Cutlery
Thanks for looking, Lloyd
