Rosco Italian switchblade
I took some better pictures of this knife.
It is a Rosco, Italian made switchblade with a closed length of 5 7/8". The handle appears to be horn, possibly buffalo. Any and all comments, insight to age or value is welcome.

Re: Rosco Italian switchblade
What do you want to know?
It was made by Mauro Mario for the US importer George C. Rose company prior to 1959.
The handle is cow horn.

Re: Rosco Italian switchblade
Is there a way to date these more to a specific date? Also, what determines value on knives like this? Is it mostly size or materials? I'm assuming a larger knife like this is more valuable.Bill DeShivs wrote:What do you want to know?

Specifically, 1954-1958.
Prior to 1954, Rose sold Latama branded products.
Value is generally higher for larger knives.
I'm not a knife dealer, so I can't accurately value your knife.

The only way that you can tell what a knife is really worth is by what someone is willing to pay for it . I will give you $100 for it and if it is worth more than that , someone else will probably let you know .

Funny Bill I thought you couldn't say what it was worth, interesting.
Re: Rosco Italian switchblade
It's still only worth $100 unless someone offers more .galvanic1882 wrote:Funny Bill I thought you couldn't say what it was worth, interesting.

Re: Rosco Italian switchblade
Ok, I'll throw in my thoughts about price. Limited though they are. Value could be in the 200-250 range and maybe more. As far as an offer 150 would be mine since I am not in the market for Italians unless they are Frosolone's of which I have only 2. So I would be looking to get the knife on the cheap. Need to know about how it functions and whether there is movement in the blade when open etc.
It seems that for some reason that getting a try value on these types is hard on forums like this. I am a member of a few more forums and they frown on values being posted or talked about and there are very few books that relate to it either.

Mountain man scroll down on this page to the Rosco knives, it will give you a pretty good idea what some people are asking for them, I don't know how many actually sell for these prices but you get the idea.

Ridiculous pricing from a man who sells fakes. Notice the "electric blue" vintage stilettos. They have been rehandled, but no mention of that.
