Question, What would a knife like that cost in that condition ?
American Switches

Some are asking in the thousands and some in the hundreds so its kind of hard to say.

Re: American Switches
Found this one at a flea market today;Schrade Walden with a missing button release and lock. Nice full blade that is cleaning up nicely. One scale(black jigged plastic)has a small piece missing that is easily fixable. Spring is in great shape. Now all I need is the buttons. Couldn't pass it up for $2.50.

I think the button/sear from them orange Walden para knives will work on your knife.... BTW Muskratman knives has some replacement handle covers as well. Good score , this same model was my 1st switchblade and I still have it 40 years later

Re: American Switches
Thank you so much for that info! I have an MC-1 that has a broken back spring on the shroud cutter side AND a broken release spring I bought awhile back for $10.I checked and it looks like the button and lock assembly will fit. Guess i'll play "knife doctor" this week lolwiseguy wrote:I think the button/sear from them orange Walden para knives will work on your knife.... EDIT: I think I can repair the break in the scale without too much trouble but thanks for the heads-up for MM

Re: American Switches
Anytime you MAY be able to sneak the button assembly in but the handle WILL need to be removed to replace the safety, at that point you MAY need a new cover. Be sure to post it all fixed up .

Re: American Switches
The handle is already easy to remove so that won't be a problem.I think I am going to repair the handle anyway.Have done a few piecing-in of bone so plastic shouldn't be a problem. The easy part is jigging it to match.I use a small ball end bit in a Foredom die grinder which works nicely because it has a foot operated speed control.wiseguy wrote:Anytime you MAY be able to sneak the button assembly in but the handle WILL need to be removed to replace the safety, at that point you MAY need a new cover. Re: American Switches
You realize that Buck is now making the 110 Auto, right? This a $140.00 knife that will give many of the other American auto knives a "run for their money". How many of their automatic knives have a "forever warranty", hmm?
Think about it!

Re: American Switches
Beautiful knife Cato, I don't think I have seen one with handles like those. They look to be cell or some other plastic. No shrinkage either. Blade looks full. I have to say thats a very nice find!

Re: American Switches
I have a very old Switch blade knife, that I'f had since Hector was a pup. Don't remember when or how I got it. I can find no markings on it, and it is in pretty sad shape, but works OK. I don't know whether to clean it up a bit,or to just let it go as is. In looking at the pictures in the posts, on American Switches, I have seen a couple of knives almost identical to it. One was listed as a Presto. I am going to post pictures, and hope to find information on the history of this knife, and what the value of it might be. Help?, and Thanks.

Re: American Switches
Looks like a Colonial fishtail with shadow bolsters. My first switch was identical to that except for handle color(mine was green swirl).Got it in the 7th grade(1956)and promptly broke the spring playing with it.If you want to remove the rust I'd suggest going over it lightly with a #2 lead pencil and leave it at that.
