Canal Street Display

Former Schrade President Walley Gardner and principal Joe Hufnagel joined with nine master cutlers to form a group of US craftsmen with over 300 years of combined knife making experience to create Canal Street Cutlery. It was first located in upstate New York where a long and rich tradition of quality knife making dates back to the 19th century. Unfortunately, the company closed its doors in 2015, but not before making some great knives. The brand was resurrected in 2018 as Canal Street Cutlery Co-Op & focused on making very small batches of high quality traditional knives. As a Co-Op, it was owned by the knife makers who worked there. Unfortunately, the business model couldn't hold up & the entity again ceased production.

Canal Street Display

Post by philco »

Here's a project I've been working on for a while now. Putting them in the display case was easy. Getting them gathered up to do so was a bit more challenging.

Hope you like them! :)

Looks good Phil. Canal Street makes a nice knife. I only have one, Hawbaker Special in ram's horn, but need to get more.

Now that's a nice rainbow Phil. ::tu:: I really like the CS gunstock pattern but wish it was at least the length of the congress pattern knives. It's just a tad to small to be comfortable for my big hands. You have a very impressive gang of CS's there. Nice work.

May I ask….?

Even as a neophyte I can see the works of art and your outstanding display of them. The 3rd horizontal knife from the left bottom, ….is that also a Canal Street? The bowtie shield looks like it has 'AAPK' inscribed. Does the group have a custom knife and if so, was it made by Shrade/Canal Street?

Here's a little display of swell centered jacks I've just put together. From left to right they are; Elk Antler, Green Stagged Bone, Paua Shell (abolone), Reclaimed Chestnut Wood, and Amber Stagged Bone.

:( The only thing lacking is that knife in pearl. Maybe someday........
