Fixed Blades Anyone?

Former Schrade President Walley Gardner and principal Joe Hufnagel joined with nine master cutlers to form a group of US craftsmen with over 300 years of combined knife making experience to create Canal Street Cutlery. It was first located in upstate New York where a long and rich tradition of quality knife making dates back to the 19th century. Unfortunately, the company closed its doors in 2015, but not before making some great knives. The brand was resurrected in 2018 as Canal Street Cutlery Co-Op & focused on making very small batches of high quality traditional knives. As a Co-Op, it was owned by the knife makers who worked there. Unfortunately, the business model couldn't hold up & the entity again ceased production.

Fixed Blades Anyone?

Anyone have any fixed blades to show? Here are a few to start, a couple of drop point hunters, and three D'Holders:

Sure do have a fixed blade or two.

Yours is a GR8 line up. I like the Water Bulffalo hands the most.

Just snagged this 2009 NRA knife of the year ::ds:: It's the D'Holder designed bowie with stabilized peened leather handles ::tu:: Comes with a faux moose antler display, but it's been sent seperately. I'll post pics of the whole set when the antlers arrive:

WOW ea47 you have some sweet Canal Streets.

Here is one like yours.

CS Fixed Drop Point AG Russell 440C #004 7 5/8 "

The D'Holders just feel so sweet in my hand. Have you noted the same felling over the other Canal Street fixed blades ?

Yes I have Ken, very well balanced. Your hand is actually cradled in the handle.

Just one more small thing about some of the D'Holders knifes.

The finger gard is part of the blade. Not an add on bolster.

I love that and it looks so kool to me... 8) 8)

When I find that I am willing to pay a little more for the knife.

Perhaps just a thing I like a lot.

stabilized peened leather handles

I used Ren-Wax on mine. Now I wounder if I should have used some thing first or else?

What should I have used to protect the peened leather?

I do not want to use any oil that will make it darken.

I also have Buffalo Horn with Bark (exterior of the horn) and not sure what to use on it. That's one of the D'Holder & Canal Streets Set.

Ken, you really don't have to put anything on either of them, they're stabilized with resin that's drawn into the material by vacuum, which keeps it from drying out, warping, shrinking, etc. Renwax doesn't hurt, but I think I'd keep it off the horn since it might keep goopy and smear in that rough horn.

Well thank you for your smart info Eric.

I just Ren-Waxed the blades on the D'Holder Canal Street Set.

If your liking it a lot just go to my DANDY store and put a price on it. You never know but you mite just make an offer and hit me on your right day. Or just PM me and we can work out some thing perhaps.
