"Miller Bro`s" that is a sweet razor. I have never seen one like that, I've seen knives with nudes on them but never a razor. Are they hard to find ?

I picked up a couple of razors the other day. The top one is stamped, "H. Boker& Co." The blade is stamped, "PEARL". The tangs are genuine mother of pearl. needs to have the handle repaired. a piece is mising at the pivot point. Other than that it's a beauty. Original box. Handle has a Boker tree stamped in it.
The bottom one is stamped, "Norvell Shapleigh HDWE Co./ St. Louis on the front of the tang. Stamped "Germany" on the back. The length of the front handle is some sort of a wading bird. No cracks. Great shape. Original box.
I like these old razors but I don't get very msny of them.

STRAIGHT RAZOR HIBBARD SPENCER BARTLETT ART NOUVEAU NUDE LADY

Got this over the weekend on Ebay...I thought it was worth the $40.00 I won it for, It's very unusual.

Description: An art nouveau nude lady w/flowing hair and gown w/background of lily and leaves/etc. Handles are ribbed and reddish colored. Blade is clean but does have oxidation. One spot on handles toward bottom where blade enters looks to have a little wear/discolor - but overall a real pretty nude razor and by a good retailer - Hibbard, Spencer , Bartlett & Co.

Thanks "Miller Bro`s". I saw a similar one in an antique shop and they wanted $89.00. I offered $50.00 by they declined my offer. Seems like these antique shops do not want to bargain anymore. Just as well, this one is nicer and was cheaper.

Draac;
Very Nice, indeed.

I spoke with and traded with a seller/collector of straight razors at the Dalton, Georgia NKCA knife show this past Spring.

He had a display case of razors from many different manufacturers, but they all had multi-color handles like that HSB and several of them had nudes depicted on the handles. He was asking big bucks for the razors in that case, upwards of $400.00 on some.

Not saying your HSB qualifies for that kind of value, but I'd say you need to find out.

Thank you "RobesonsRme.com" for your post. When I meet the right person who knows about these types of razors and their worth, I shall inquire about mine.

That's acute lil corn razor. ::tu::

I'm kind of shy on "fancy handle" stuff for some reason. Probably because I go after the blades more than the handles.
These old Freddy Reynolds are some of my fancier ones.
Image
Front one's horn is nearly transparent.
Image

Still trying to decide if the back one is turtle or dyed cow horn.
Image

Then I've got this little beauty, thanks to Ironhoarder. Interesting old razor. Has a very stubby tail yet is somewhat hollow ground. I'm thinking 1840'-1850's. Ivory scales that have a neat repair done to 'em.

THe piece holding the cracked back scale is one piece, obviously hand made, and feels like coin silver to me.

I honed it up and it is a SWEET shaving old razor. It's got a lot of hone wear from the past, so I put a couple of layers of tape on the spine to keep from wearing it down any more and make the bevel a bit less wide. I like shaving with it almost as much as that big Reynolds. :mrgreen:

Nice ones Willie ::tu::

It looks like T-shell to me ::nod::

I collected the fancy handle ones for just the opposite reason, I never planned to shave with them and the fancy handle ones were hard to find in good condition. I would find 30-40 plain black handle ones to every 1 fancy handle one.

I mostly only collected brand names of companies that made or sold pocket knives, English, American & German.

Someday, when I can take better pictures, I will post them here :wink:

I believe that Reynolds razor is horn stained to look like tortoise.I base this on the fact that you can see long straight lines in the material near the pivot(front)rivet which is indicative of the hair that horn is composed of.
Also on the the Rodgers razor:the stamping,"cutlers to THEIR majesties" is if I recall correctly used during the reign of King Edward VII which dates to around 1901-1910.I could be wrong on the last part though.

This one has all the bells and whistles.

Gold washed tang, gold washed and etched blade, inlaid shield, fancy file worked spine on both sides!

That is a nice one.

Been honed down a bit but damn sure taken care of. ::tu::

I'm still trying to figure out if that spine was forged or etched that way. No way you could do that with a file. It sure adds a neat touch to 'em.
