Kevin needs more prayers

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

Kevin needs more prayers

Post by orvet »

My daughter’s fiancé, Kevin needs more prayers.
As many of you know Kevin has been battling leukemia for the last 18 months or more.

The leukemia seems to be in remission at this point, but because of all the chemotherapy he has been through his immune system is pretty much nonexistent. He got a fungal infection behind his eye and it went into the brain. He has had several surgeries removing pieces of his infected brain. They have removed all the brain they can without dramatically affecting his vision and motor control of his muscles.

The infection is still in the brain. There is nothing more that can be done surgically. The doctors are debating putting a catheter into his brain to put the medicine directly on the infected area. It is a last ditch effort to save his life.

Alyson, (my wife), and I when up to the hospital last night to see him, but he could not wake up because of the heavy dose of pain meds they had him on. We prayed for him and talked to my daughter. (Yolonda).

Please pray for healing for Kevin. Pray for Londa also, this is sort of a crisis of faith for her. She is physically and emotionally exhausted as one might imagine.

Thanks guys.
God bless you all,
Dale

The latest update-

The doctors have given up on Kevin and opted not to try the catheter to put the medication directly into the brain. They will be meeting with the family on Thursday to discuss what comfort measures they want taken.

I do believe God is the only one who can heal Kevin now.
Please keep praying.

Thank you,

Dale, So many times we try to comfort ourselves and others with Romans 8:28 which is good, but verses 18 through 27 need to be considered also. We know our will is for Kevin's healing and for this we will pray, but some days the big picture is far beyond our comprehension. Praying for healing, comfort, and mercy for all who are involved in this critical issue ::pray:: .

Sorry to hear of this Dale! No words to describe that as I have been thru this with my Mom and Dad, now passed, to a similar unpleasant extent. Not that those words can cover an issue such as this.

Prayers just sent out! God bless you and yours!

Thanks for all the prayers guys!

Kevin and Londa, (the family nickname for Yolonda), were married Thursday at the hospital. The plan was for him to go home Thursday night. They are trying to arrange hospice care for him. Kevin did not want to die in the hospital.
He wants to see the ocean one last time and his best friend was going to take him to the coast.

My ex-wife and her husband are staying in their camper at Kevin & Londa’s house to help with cooking, cleaning and all the details. Including taking care of my 11 year old grandson (Londa’s boy). She was going to take him school shopping.

Kevin & Londa are having a home coming party tomorrow (Saturday).
My wife, Londa’s godfather (my best friend) and I are going to visit them in the morning.

Your prayers for the family are appreciated.

The doctors gave Kevin 3 hours or 3 days as the infection is throughout his brain.
I am still praying that God heals Kevin; I know He can.

But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Update on Kevin

Alyson (my wife) and I visited Kevin and Londa Saturday morning. He was very lucid and we had a good talk. Kevin does know the Lord, so that is outstanding! Some of his friends from high school were over the day before and prayed with him.

Saturday was his home coming party. It was an all day event where his friends and family could drop in and visit and leave when they wanted. We got there early and visited for a couple hours. We about noon and most people were coming about 1 PM. Kevin said he was feeling pretty good when we talked to him.

The infection is throughout his brain according to the doctors. He has started to run a bit of fever.

Please keep Kevin in your prayers, that whatever happens would be to God’s glory.
I am still praying that he will be healed.

Thanks again to all you for your prayer support.
I know there are people around the world praying for Kevin.
