I'm a novice collector and don't own any Remington knives. I purchased the knife shown below at a flea market today for $7. Looking through my (limited) reference books and also this site I don't see anything like it, so I suspect it may be counterfeit.
It has what seems to be a correct tang stamp (REMINGTON in block letters inside the circle and MADE IN USA outside the circle), and the stamp is sharp and clear. However, there is no pattern number stamped on the blade. The handles look like they are synthetic, maybe Delrin.
It does seem to be reasonably well made. Though the blades are badly stained, fit and finish seems good. The liners are brass. Closed length is 3-7/8". Perhaps one of the resident experts can tell me what I have. Thanks,
Dennis
Novice Question re Fake Remington
Re: Novice Question re Fake Remington
Even by the poor photo's the knife looks factory made.
I can't see the benefit of faking a knife with plastic handles.
I'm not a Remington expert but I know other companies made Remington knives after the original company closed.
I'm sure someone else who knows more about Remington will be able to help you more.

Re: Novice Question re Fake Remington
That's not a fake Remington. It's a modern Remington, made by Camillus as Junebug has said.
There are very few fakes or forgeries of modern Remington's, where the values are usually less than $ 100. When it comes to vintage Remington's costing into the thousands of dollars that's when you have to keep an eye out.

Thank you to kaq, junebug, and Rem Coll for your responses. I'm now a little bit smarter than I was a few days ago.
