Help with Identification

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Help with Identification

Post by Jedwood »

Hi there, any help identifying these two Remington pocket knives would be grand. I know one is a Boy Scout's knife, but it certainly isn't the RS3333! The other, I just...have no idea, I've been looking and you guys seem like a great resource. Both of them have Remington marks on them, but no numbering. They both seem old. Thanks in advance! ~ Jed

Thank you, Junebug. I should have thought to give dimensions, my bad!

The Boy Scout knife is just over 3 1/4" long with a main blade length of 2 1/4".

The other knife is 3 1/4" long and the bigger blade is 2", shorter is 1 1/2".

I don't know if it'll help, but these are photos are of the marks on the other, non-Scout knife.

Thanks again!

Vit_213, thank you for your help! I'm not sure if it is RS4783, though. With your info I did another search and found this site http://www.scoutknives.net/index.php?op ... &Itemid=62

I'm wondering if it is a 4773? There's no shackle and the can opener is on the wrong end, and it's not 3 1/2" long, it's just short of that (I measured three times to be sure, heh).

If anyone is interested, these two knives are going on eBay tonight. I am not a collector, myself. These did come from a collection I recently got. Thanks.
