Love the sign Keith. What is the circa on this?

Dupont era. So 35-40 right?
Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
It's definitely original. I was a little nervous to plug it in as it has the original electric cord on it

Keith does it have a label anywhere on it? Can you take the back off and look at the inside for a manufacturing label. Should have an address of manufacturer and or a date.

That's pretty cool information Rocky. I've never seen this sign before. I've seen the bigger, neon signs before. They are cool. But pretty pricey

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
As you might know neon signs were introduce in the 1900's maybe 1920's or so. Although I don't think the one you have is neon, I think it is reversed paint on glass with a bulb in the box to illuminate the advertising.??? Just my guess. It is a great sign.

You are correct. I was just saying. I have a friend that has the neon Remington sign. It's neat as well

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
Here's the real deal... a Remington Dupont blade lifter. The front side stamped "Remington Dupont, (shield)" and the back side is stamped "Fine Cutlery" in script lettering. A big thank you to Steve, aka, Knifeaholic. Great guy, great store at great prices!! AAA+++++

Always thought these were theater made bullet knives until I found that they were made by Remington and sold through a Miller Brother's Hardware Catalog. Take a look see...Bottom left corner of left page.

Dang Rocky. Your showing off some cool pieces. That bullet knife is pretty rare isn't it?

There're out there Keith but you don't see them very often...had this for a while now but just recently found them in the mentioned catalog while looking for your F1632. It is always an exciting event when I find something like this to collaborate my collection.

I see the China reproduction of both the bullet Knife and the Knife opener. I like yours.

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
You know Keith I have been doing a little research on your Remington Cutlery sign and you really have a unique, rare and sought after piece. It is in remarkable condition and a clear trophy to any Remington collection. Just awesome!
In addition you have managed to gather some impressive Remington display cases and filled them with great knives. You have well planned your collection and the overall displays are wonderful. Keep up your efforts young man, it makes me feel good to know that these beauties are well loved and cared for by others who have the same enthusiasm for the history and preservation of the Remington brand.

Thanks for the encouragement Rocky. I have a plan for my collection. I've set the bar pretty high that I don't know if it is achievable but I'm having fun with it. I'm young enough that hopefully I have many years to collect. Many of you guys on here have helped guide me towards some great items. I always enjoy seeing others collections.

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
Ditto buddy!
For me at this point in my collection I am after the more unique and rare/scarce Remington pieces, as you well may know it comes at a different asking price but for me I can be more selective and plan for the more demanding competitive purchase.
As an after thought on the bay at present there is a seller that has what looks like mint Remington original knives but looking carefully these knives have been cleaned within an inch of there lives noting the peppering on the tang of some of the knives not matching to the blades. Resurfacing marks on the blades and tangs that do not jive together. I also believe that some have been uniquely antiqued re-etched to give the appearance of a mint near mint knife. JMHO Most of the time the rule of thumb applies ,"if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck.. most likely a duck".

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
Here's some Remington advertising knives. Love to collect the advertising knives from the Remington era. The last knife in picture is a Remington R4495 "Say it with Flowers" the advertising is there just faded...sorry about the poor clarity, shakey hands.
