Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Corvus, Nice old Remingtons. They made a lot of knives and there are alot of
them out there, but not many like the ones you showed. I enjoyed the pictures.

Recent find, with enough history (patina) to show it's age. The etch is just barely visable.

Nice vintage Remington finds guys! ::tu::

Here's my most recent find; an R6103 half congress in bone with rat tail(?) bolsters. It's right at 3" with a pretty decent etch still remaining. If it's been sharpened it hasn't been sharpened much.

MB, among many of my beloved knives, collecting Remington knives has become a passion for me. I have one or two older Remingtons but my focus at present are the reproduction Remington knives from 1982 to present. So far I have accumulated the 1987 Fish knife through to the 2000 Navigator. When I get the chance I will post the photos. My ultimate plan is to finish the 1980's and move to 2001-present, then backfill with older Remingtons and special event knives. ::tu:: Stay tuned. MB that little R7945 is an awesome knife. It is so solid in construction I've never seen one quit like this with regard to the super heavy brass liners...just amazing older knives. ::tu::
