Re: Remington Photos
Keith, beautiful group of Remington knives and the cardboard insert as a backdrop is fantastic.
Re: Remington Photos
Thanks Jerry. One of my main goal in my collection is to try and display the knives the way they would have been in the hardware stores back in the day. I like the catalogs, cases, and accessories that came along with them. Remington took the advertising to a whole new level. I have a piece in the mail now that im pretty excited to show off when it gets here.

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Re: Remington Photos
This was in my mailbox this morning. I have a theory of what it's for. Interested to here what you think it for. Late 30's stamp.

Re: Remington Photos
The Remington catalog states it's an adjustable box cutter. Not at home so I forget the pattern number. Some have listed it as a clam shucker of all things. Nice example Keith, I have a Morton's salt advertising example.

Box cutter is what I thought it was. I'd love to see the add if you get a chance.

Keith I'm working a 12 hour shift at the hospital and won't be home till 8pm ish tonight. Look towards the back section of the C-30 catalog and you will see a copy of the add there with a description of the pattern.

Re: Remington Photos
Thanks Rocky. But I haven't got a c-30 yet.

I like that. Whoever the guy in charge of advertising in the 30's for Remington was a busy feller

They were doing what they could to stay solvent in a bad economy called the Depression. I wrote about this in part in an article for Knife World July 2015.

Re: Remington Photos
I may have posted this before but it is a nice easy open knife and I am trying to learn how to post pictures. Don't recall pattern number.
Re: Remington Photos
Wow. That's a sweet knife with a great etch. Thanks for showing it off.Remumc wrote:I may have posted this before but it is a nice easy open knife and I am trying to learn how to post pictures. Don't recall pattern number.

Re: Remington Photos
Your bulldog HTT is great and correct. Some had tang stamps and some did not. I have an example of both. Nice knife and worth around $550. Take care, John Davis

John, I think you are responding to a post I made a while back about my HTT Bulldog. If so, thank you! I sent you a Private Message a few months ago. I would enjoy seeing pictures of you Bulldogs if you don't mind posting them.
Re: Remington Photos
An original R1123 with Remington Master Knife etch and a custom with sheep horn scales made by me.
Re: Remington Photos
Obviously I like the original 1123. But tell me more about the knife you made. Beautiful handles. Did you make everything? Or did you use a Remington frame. Very nice. Thanks for showing us.
Re: Remington Photos
I used the original as a pattern to get the measurements for the custom. It has all nickel silver parts except the blades and backsprings that are made from 154CM stainless steel. I make all the parts with bandsaw, drill press, and belt sanders starting with sheet and bar stock. I do the heat treating myself.
Re: Remington Photos
Wow. Some day!!!!! You build many knives?
Re: Remington Photos
Not very many. Just a hobby. Maybe 6-8 a year with 10-12 if I feel energetic! Mostly fixed blade hunters with a few slip joint folders thrown in.
