No serial number CASE 77' 5111-1/2LSSP engraved bolster

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

No serial number CASE 77' 5111-1/2LSSP engraved bolster

Post by zp4ja »

Posted this guy in the mailman thread but it does fit here too.

Anyway, I have 4 of this knife already, CASE 77' 5111-1/2LSSP with engraved bolsters. 1 of 1000 made. This one is a rarer bird, even rarer than the 1 of 1000 production knives, as it does not have a serial number and the knife in hand, certainly is tight and not tampered with. Looks to be a factory error.
The knife is very tight. The serial number was not removed, just never put on. These knives would be difficult to fake with the engraving over the top of the bolster pins.

Another odd and interesting thing I noticed is that the hue/color of the blue scroll does vary slighty from knife to knife. This one is like a blue/grey color.

Here it is.

Regards, Jerry

That man is a success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who leaves the world better than he found it; who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in other's and gave the best he had.
