Knife/Hatchet combo anyone?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

I have no idea about the price you are looking for on that. Maybe do some trading ? GEC ,CASE ,BUCK ,S&M , QUEEN, YELLOW HORSE , KA-BAR nib's here , and assorted used older brands . PM if you might be up for some trading. 8)

Oh okay ,how old is that ? They don't make those anymore do they ? What keeps it secure when you use it as a hatchet ? I don't see any clasp or locking system to keep the knife in the hatchet shank. It's beautiful ! ::nod::

Here's a catalog pic of one Queen made for Moore Maker. I believe they managed to get the old Case tooling for them. They charged over $350 so they just faded away.

Case last offered the 561 knife axe combo set in 1970. Discontinued as of the 1971 price list. The last retail price was $40.00. For a comparison, at the time the next most expensive Case hunting knife was the Kodiak (stag) which retailed fro $25.00 at that time.

And you would be right! Here's a couple I have. Case put some really nice stag on these. On the right is a Tested XX that belonged to my dad. It's been sharpened and lightly used. The one on the left is a CASE XX U.S.A. I bought off a hardware store display in south Texas in early 1970's. It is mint. No box unfortunately. Not sure if he had one and at the time I didn't ask. ::facepalm::

Welcome Davy
I had one and it outgassed so bad that the push button release froze up on it. Completely ruined. Yours looks to be in very good shape.

Very nice set Davy, and welcome to AAPK. Great first post - we love pictures here. ::tu:: I've never seen a Kinfolks version before. How does the blade exchange lock up mechanism work?
