What is this? Real or Fake? Case Tested XX Clasp Knife

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

What is this? Real or Fake? Case Tested XX Clasp Knife

Post by snowedinhere »

I just recently purchased another collection and found this knife in there. It feels like a really well made knife, but I do not think Case made anything like this. Wanted to see what you all thought about it. If it isnt Case, can someone give me an idea of who made it? It is about 8.5 inches total length when open. Case, Bradford, PA. Tang Stamp on one side and Tested XX on the other side. Thank you!

It is kinda neat, but I don't think it is related to a Case knife.

I won't be able to comment on who did make the knife. It looks new to me and does not resemble a Case knife to me at all. I'm voting thumbs down ::td:: My areas of concern:

1. Shield
2. Square"ish" top bolster
3. Bone jigging
4. Tang stamping - never seen that rendition of "tested xx"
5. Blade grind - never seen a blade on an old Case knife doubled sabered or whatever the name for this might be
6. Long pull nail nick not squared up at the ends
7. Lock back is very rare / unusual on this pattern which makes is highly valued

I am no expert on Case, but I would guess that knife was made in Pakistan.

It's a nice looking knife, but nothing about it looks Case to me. ::shrug::
