Any other CASE canoe collectors out there?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Here are some examples of blade variations in canoes:

There are two 1 blade canoes, two 2 blade canoes, and two 3 blade canoes in this set.

This is a 3 blade Wostenholm.

This is a 1 blade that is currently listed at SMKW.

All of the above knives are 3 5/8" long in the closed position.

I had seen your Native American tribe ones earlier. Didn't look hard enough to realize some were 1 and 3 bladed versions!

At some point I gotta end up with a Case "Big Chief" for the collection.

Thanks for the education!!

I don't know if you want to call it an education, there are those who will argue with my definitions. I just call 'em as I see 'em.

1996 82131...

Maybe selling some of my post 80' Canoes. Will let you guys know.

I could be wrong but my Dad stated 96' as first year Case put a shield on a pearl knife. Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong.

Nice "newer knife" pearl though the pics don't do it justice.

Beautiful knife zp4ja! ::tu:: MOP is another one that I don't have yet. I have a Case abalone but no Case MOP. I have some MOP canoes from other makers though.

Here's a Bulldog canoe in MOP:

And here's another Case baby canoe to keep the parade moving.... ::nod::

BTW, I can't answer your question about the shield on MOP. ::shrug:: I believe your father is right, though. If I find any info on the subject I'll let you know.

Nice canoes gentlemen.

The last one posted, with the red handles, look much better in your photo than the stock photo. Had no idea the text was raised!

Thanks Titan.

Here's another butterbean. This one is interesting in that it has no bolsters.

Wow hadn't seen one without bolsters before!

I'm gonna have to bust out the camera. There are a couple more that I have that I haven't posted yet. Nothing blued or damascus though!

I know of two with no bolsters, the one I have and it's sister with green bone rather than brown. There may be more but I haven't run across them yet. Maybe some of the more knowledgeable collectors out there can tell us if there are more.

The Case canoes are the heart of my collection but I collect all kinds of canoes plus I also collect other patterns too. ::super_happy::

So.......show me some more canoes......please.

Here's another one of mine, a venerable old favorite.

Charlie, you need to break up the Indian tribe convention - show them off individually! By the way, mighty nice collection of Canoe's you and Titan have - sure been fun looking at your pictures.

Nice pic yourself, Titan. John Deere is another one I don't have yet. I'd swear you're peeking at my wanted list!

The handles on the American Indian set are composite or delrin.

Here's the other 3 blade canoe from the set...

Nice 3 blade. I am sure I will end up with a 3 blade example at some point.

I know of 2 different John Deere canoes from case. You have options!

Oh, did someone say Ducks? No? Well here's a Ducks Unlimited canoe:

Titan, you ARE peekin' at my wanted list! I had a DU canoe with walnut handles but I let it go in a trade for something I wanted more. ::dang:: So DU is back on the list 'til I replace it.

Here's a 1 blade canoe from the set...

Nah OH, that's just #290. I think there are about 710 more! ::rotflol::

I've never been able to find out for sure but I believe they made 1000 of each. The guy I spoke to at Case said that was his best guess. ::shrug::

BTW Old Hunter, how'd you make on your "Bear hunt"?

Here's the other 1 blade model from the set...
