Any other CASE canoe collectors out there?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Great Canoes guys! Wish I had more to share but I only have the one, and that one I posted a few pages back! But I sure am enjoyin' looking at all of the fines specimens in your collections! Squatch I am especially fond of the one you posted with the etch that normally appears on the blade instead being on the handle scale...nice job using the deer head as a prop with that last one there too, very creative! Is that from a buck you harvested?. I notice you use antlers from time to time in some of your most excellent pics, just curious if you are a hunter, or maybe a shed collector...or both. I consider myself to be both, though I usually don't have much luck hunting sheds, they always seem to elude me, even in the absolutely most likely looking spots....nothin'.
Titan you've got some real dandys there too!
Keep 'em comin', enjoyin' the show over here,
Mike

Mike, I'm both. The ones you see in my pics are from deer I've taken. I do pick up sheds too, I use them for rattling and knife handles. If you want to find shed antlers you need to get out there early because other animals like porcupine, groundhog, rabbit, and others will gnaw on them for the calcium and the salt. It doesn't take long and they're gone.

Since we are talking scrolled bolsters, this is my one and only:

OOOOOOOO Very nice! ::tu:: The 337 is most likely a serialization......it's #337 0f 500 or 1000 or however many they made. If you have an item number you might be able to find out how many were made.
Here's more scrolled bolsters, Case XX Limited Edition Commemorative Set. 1 of 250.

Are you sure that is the correct item number? I did a quick web search and that number came up associated with a 1995 blue bone peanut. (doesn't mean they had the right number but check it) What you can do is contact the case factory and ask for info using the item no. and you can also check out the Case Collector's Club. They have a historian who may be able to help. Meanwhile I'll look around and see if I can find more info for you.

More scrolled bolsters to keep the ball rolling:

Well it may be the incorrect box, but I believe its correct. Printed
W. R. CASE
PATTERN R62131 SS
CODE 02083
62131 (as you know) is a canoe, so that gives me reason to believe it is the original box.

I'd say you're right and the refference I found is wrong. The factory box labels usually say ITEM rather than CODE though. You can try the resources I listed and see what you can find out. You can also post a question on one of the "identify/date" my knife type threads, you'd be surprised at the knowledge you can get from other collectors. I haven't found anything else yet, I'll let you know if I do.

Youse guys are gettin' awfully fancy here, with your snakes and scrolls. Charlie, that stag with the etched, dark blades is just awesome.

Been wanting to add a Case Canoe to my collection, but I wanted a block shield and the Indian in the Canoe etch - found this one today in a gunshop - it's mine now.

Another nice LE Charlie! I don't have any of that style of marking on any of my canoes..... yet.

I think our want lists would be about the same!

You have good taste, Titan. ::tu:: Another one I been tracking down. I love those red G-10 handles and the Ruger logo really sets it off. I found one for sale last week!!! I think you just made up my mind what my next acquisition will be...............unless, of course, another one I've been wanting catches my eye. ::rotflol:: That's the problem, can't buy everything on your wanted list at the same time so you have to pick and choose which ones to buy when the budget allows. ::mdm:: It's always a tough call for me. ::dang::

Here's one that's kinda' special to me, being from AZ originally. ::super_happy::

That is real cool. Your custom knife makes more sense to me now, being you are an Arizona native.
I'm not going to post another tonight. I gotta space 'em out or I will run out of pics. Have a nice threesome to show off for my grand finale at some point! ::super_happy::
