Any other CASE canoe collectors out there?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Here's another one I just acquired..........1965 - 1969 ::super_happy::

I have a correction to make.........I have learned from a fellow collector that the Indian/canoe etch on the master blade of this knife was not used until mid 1974 so this knife is not from the 1965 to 1969 era. It appears to be one of the "hidden dot" knives and as such would have been made between 1974 and 1979. Those dots are REALLY hidden too!!! :lol: It's still an old Case in excellent condition......it's just not as old as I thought.

Some more nice ones, Charlie. I personally like the 1970's ones (with and without the canoe etch) best, mostly because of the bone.

It's a nice one too, Jerry! Pocket Worn Red Bone, a clasic! ::tu:: ::clapping::

Here's the other one I've got from the Artisans Tour. There are five of them but I only have the two so far.

While Case canoes are my favorites, all canoes are cool! :)

Charlie, Here is a Case Canoe I won on Jerry's Wounded Warrior Auctions a month ago - I played with the blade and the dot pattern and decided it most likely was a 1974 (but it might be a 1975). I see Frost put a second Indian with a bow in his canoe - had to one up Case! OH

That's a nice old Case Canoe ya got there OH! ::tu::

Frost may have tried to go one up on Case but he came up short. It's a nice knife but if you hold it up next to a Case it doesn't quite make that grade. Some of the Japanese cutlers used in those days did fine work but it's real hard to beat Made In The USA. :)

Charlie, Nice Santa Clause knife! I have a question for you; I saw a NOS Case Canoe recently that was made in 1985 (I also own a 1974) - both knives have one wide backspring for the two blades. I have a Case Canoe made in 1998; pretty much the same knife - however, it has two narrow backsprings, one for each blade. When did Case change from one to two backsprings as their method of construction for this model? Thanks, OH

Well Old Hunter, I knew it was in the '80s but couldn't tell you a year. So I asked a bunch of other Case collectors. The consensus so far is 1985 or 1986. If I can pin it down any more than that I'll let you know.

Nice old canoe at86!!! ::tu:: ::clapping:: Looks like it's in great shape too!! Thanks for showing it. If you have more, let us see them.....

I need a bone handled 10 dot. I'm working on filling out my "'70s section". I have a ten dot stag. There's a pic of it back on page 20 of this thread.
