Any other CASE canoe collectors out there?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Thanks Titan.

Here is a 1973 62131. Trying to figure out if it is delrin. Some books say that delrin in this year/ model is "rare". Could be black bone.

ZP4JA, The number "6" in the pattern number 62131 indicates that the handle is bone. The first number or symbol is for handle material, the second number is the number of blades, and the rest is the pattern. For instance, your pattern # breaks down as follows: 6 = bone, 2 = two blades, and 131 = canoe. A knife with the pattern # 53131 would be 5 = stag, 3 = three blades, and 131 = canoe. The number for black synthetic is "2" I believe. Hope this helps.....

I stand corrected!!! Jim Sargent, in his Premium Guide, lists Delrin as a material that is also represented by the number 6.

Good info!

This is my latest! Love Damascus. And check out the "depth" of the handle on the second picture! Not sure the camera can capture that. Some will hate it some will love it. I think its cool.

Nice handles.. You are tempting me to focus more on handles than just blades. For now, I focus on blades (and scrolled bolsters)!

It's the pattern that is the focus for me, anything canoe shaped. Which is why I have canoes and butterbeans. I have many canoes made by other cutlers too. I will have gunboats too but I haven't started acquiring them yet, too many canoes I still don't have, but gunboats are on my list. I started with the butterbeans earlier because some of the LE series didn't offer a canoe pattern but did offer a butterbean. A few of the series didn't offer either.

Here's another butterbean for your viewing pleasure.........

LE Series XX, molasses jigged bone with bar shield.

Sorry about the camera focus on those butterbean pics. They were some of the first pics I took. I'll have to take some better ones now that I've figured out how to use this camera better. ::facepalm::

Charlie, I now understand why all the Case knife display cases I see have no Canoe or Butterbean knives on display - you and Titan have bought them all!
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

Mmmm... watermelon. Just had some a few hours ago!
Here is another version of the John Deere. This one comes in a tin, but has the Delrin handles. I like the one I posted earlier much better.
