This was probably my Grandfather's and not my father's knife. It is a 1965-1969 vintage, I believe. I understand this is a bone handle. I do not see a jigging pattern. It is smooth and has a deep red color. The pattern # is 6232. It is 3 and 5/8 inches long closed. I guess you would call it a 2 blade jack but it does look like it may have been repaired. Any further info would be appreciated. I can't believe I forgot the pic. Well , yes I can.

You have everything correct except that it is not red bone (would be considered as regular bone) and it has not been repaired as far as I can tell from the pic . It used to have a definite jigging pattern , but it has been worn smoothe by pocket wear .

That is so cool. Smoothed by pocket wear. You would think you could see something left, but I can't. Thanks guys.

I did a little more study at Case College. I can't find what Red Bone is. I think I can see what is left of the Standard pattern for the handle on mine but comparing pics of old knives that say they are Red Bone, I can't see the difference. What handle material is considered Red Bone?

So is my old 6232 a pocket worn standard pattern red bone from 1965 to 1969?

I repeat , it is NOT red bone by any stretch of the imagination ! It is just listed as bone in all knife guides .

Bob. Excuse my ignorance. What is Red Bone? Is it a look that can come from any handle material? Does it have to have a particular jigging pattern? I am trying to get some info and you seem to have it. HELP! :?
