Some "new" Classics

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Some "new" Classics

Post by deanmm56 »

Definitely not NEW, but new to me ... I picked these up in the last couple of weeks and thought I would share. ::ds::

The green is actually a reflection of plants in the background .... forgot to move them.

Hello Pen,

The 2 Barndoors are both celluloid handles

top on is called Christmas tree
bottom is Mottled brown

I need to take some photos in the sunlight.... I think that would show the colors better.

Dean,
Keep the Barndoors away from other knives and keep the blades open and oiled!! The celluloid turns quick!

While we're on the subject, I use Ren Wax on my Celluloid and haven't had any problems (yet). Does anyone else do this or am I just lucky so far? BTW, Love those Barndoor hinges!

Hello Bob,

I'll have to give that a try ... I've used Ren wax on my stag and bone handled knives but never thought about using on a celluloid handle before .... probably puts a nice shine to the handles ?

Thanks for the info,

Dean

I use Ren wax on every part of any knife and a small drop of Rem Oil on the moving parts. It works on my guns as well. Even though I wax them I still keep all my celuloid knives in another room with silica bags everywhere. Some of mine are very old but look great. If you notice one gassing out remove the scale and wait to get it rehandled by a pro. Some of them are sitting on celuloid for rehandle work and Delrin looks the same.

Here's a couple in bone and I'm not 100% sure but not gonna say they didn't make a stag proto cause I have seen other bone protos and a mastadon ivory.

I love the look of those barndoor hinge knives. Glad Case and Jim Parker decided to bring some of the classics back. Simply gorgeous.

Ain't that the truth! The size is right there with the hunter pattern. This knife arrived on Saturday, with #49 etched on the bolster and a certificate stating it was the 49th made in this pattern back in 1990. What a steal of a deal!

red, I don't think the number 49 means that the knife was the exact #49 knife made during production. I believe it just means it is #49 of what ever the total number of production knives that were made. The knives were made first then the number was put on them later. So, your knife could have been the first knife made in that pattern and handle material for the 1990 year of production or it could have been the last one made. Classic Case or Gary (Gmusic) would probably know for sure if this is correct. They are both very well versed in the Case Classic knives. Nice knives by the way fellas. ::tu::
