camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Tommy had one of those. He gave it to me (thank you Tommy). I knew he's generous but I didn't know he's that generous.

He wants $379.95 with no Make An Offer and he still wants $7.95 shipping. Sheesh

Don't get dollar signs in your eyes just yet Tommy. I think he has it priced about double the top end. But then I live at a lower economic level than most so I'm seeing it with different eyes.

That's the same one we saw earlier. It's already gone through one listing with no sale but it looks like he's sticking with his price.

Since Jerry & Co. basically have us neophyte #72 collectors boxed out as far as the first-gen old bone beauties go, I've decided to try and focus on a more eclectic subset of #72s. This one arrived today:

Tsar Bomba, from one neophyte to another, I think Jerry would consider that one a "clone" and would be acceptable. :D Nice one. ::tu::

If memory serves, and often it does not, that isn't a clone. It's a real deal Camillus SFO made for Wards.

You're already on the payroll Tommy. In fact, you are probably the CEO since you were probably collecting these before I even knew what a "Camillus" was.

SolWarrior wrote:Tsar Bomba, from one neophyte to another, I think Jerry would consider that one a "clone" and would be acceptable. :D Nice one. ::tu::
Tony, I do consider it a very acceptable "clone" since it was made by Camillus.

Edit: and then I saw the post that Cuz made and realized that was more accurate than what I had to say. ::tu:: Though "made for Wards" is brand new information to me. Are you sure about that. To my knowledge, Stanley is a stand alone company.

From Wikipedia: "Stanley Hand Tools is a brand of hand tools. It is a division of Stanley Black & Decker, following the 2010 merger of The Stanley Works with Black & Decker."

Since we're on the Stanleys, I have one which was a gift from T.J. that needs a shield. If any of you ever run onto a Stanley shield, please keep me in mind.

Tony, I think "Jerryd and Co." Is actually more akin to "Robin and his Merry Men" and we'really not really sure which one is Robin. So far the only payroll I have seen is what you can manage to "steal" of of eBay as most of us are pretty much bottom feeders. :D
