Most desired Camillus (at the moment)

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Most desired Camillus (at the moment)

Post by smokepole »

Which Camillus knife would you most like to be able to add to your collection right now?

For me it would be a mint condition, NIB, 3 blade Cub Scout (with a whole bunch of others yapping at it's heels :D )

For me it was a NIB American Wildlife jumbo trapper. I bought one of the Whitetail versions from The Dandy Knife store here at AAPK a couple of weeks ago, got it in the mail this past weekend, that knife is huge! Like you, I would like to add a nice (99%+) Cub Scout knife.

My favorites are the WWII era patterns with Rogers bone handles.

garddog......you know what I am talking about......Now I just have to figure a way to make you believe I am your grandson.. ::ds::

Dale, I love them too...I really like this pattern and I would be hard put to choose between a nice WWII vintage with the Rogers bone scales and a mint NIB cub scout.... ::suspense::

That is a quality I very much like in a knife. I have some collectables that are also just stored, but by en large my knives work - to my mind that is what they were designed for and just having them sit in a cabinet or display is sad in a way....

Smokepole; We all have some safequeens but I buy'em to use'em matter of fact most of the safequeens I have were willed to me I can't afford to buy new safequeens ::shrug:: the art of knives is the way they wear when they are used that is where the story comes from :) I take a lot of pride that my FOUR boys used this knife.

Very nice knives and post, garddogg.
Here's a Camillus I've had since January, 91. I sure like it.

Thanks guys.
My understanding is that there aren't too many around.
I think Camillus had problems with the two blade lock up.
I've never seen one on e-bay.

I have a double lock in the cartrage series, the 30-06 Springfield.
It works really well. A buddy of mine wants it really bad.

These are taken on a flat bed scanner.
It gives a good straight on perspective of the knife at little or no angle.

Very true Vit.
But it does give a better view of all the parts from a 90 degree angle.
Depending on the perspective of the camera it can make a blade look longer or shorter.
For this reason I prefer the scanner, but I use a camera too sometimes.

Scanner or camera, I'm with your buddy on this one. Very nice and one of my favorite calibers!
