Show Us Your Camillus Knives!

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Here is a bone 67 I just got. It has a Crack in the bone but it will make a great EDC. Already have a Delrin 67 and that pattern is one of my favorites .

I read Dale's Camillus Nuggets thread yesterday and the info he got from Tom. Just so happens, I just acquired a #165 in a box with steel sharpener myself.

Dave, thanks for mentioning the "Camillus Nuggets" thread. I had not read this before but have now.
Dale shows the same 165 knife/box/papers as yours and he dates it to circa 1976 based on red, white & blue colors and the American 200 Anniversary.
But look at the address to return the knife for sharpening: no ZIP which was introduced 1963 and mandatory in 1967, so i think it is older than 1967.
What say the other esteemed Camillusophiles ?

#165, #177 and #179 models are made from the '60s to mid-80s, and all this time they were packed in a red, white & blue gift box with sharpening steel.
Regarding the zip is a very interesting observation.

Only mandatory for items being sent through the postal system, not for boxes going on a shelf. I remember when zip codes came into being and there was a little resistance to zips in this country. It took some getting used to.

Jerry, the knife owner had to mail the knife back to Schrade in Ellenville. The address given by Schrade for mailing back your knife has no ZIP.
I don't understand your comment. What am i not getting ?

Schrade had Camillus make the compleate 886UH knives, as Schrade owned Camillus.
The 886UH was sold in Department Stores, as a cheep alternative to the Schrade 885UH [no replacement guarantee etc.]
The Schrade 'Buck 301 knives, were too hard to repair, for warranty - So, Buck had the 301s made by Camillus until about 1976.
Dale Vincent has paperwork, from Schrade to Camillus - indicating Camillus made Blades for some of the Schrade knives...Ken
From left to right: One Buck, Four Camillus and Six 1968 to 1966 Schrade made knives.
