Was this Scagel done by Queen?

The Queen Cutlery Company manufactured knives in Titusville Pennsylvania for 96 years. The company opened its only factory there in 1919 and commenced to make some of the best US crafted cutlery you will find. Unfortunately, the Titusville manufacturing plant closed down in 2018.

Was this Scagel done by Queen?

Post by rschuch »

There's no date on it and the tang only says "Northwoods, Gladstone, Michigan, USA"
I thought Northwoods was a partner with GEC, but a few have said this may be a Queen produced knife, though no one wants to come out and admit it. Don't know why, it's gorgeous! I'm thinking of selling it and would just like to get my facts straight - who made it and how many - so I can determine a price.

Yes, the Northwoods Scagel knives were made to Dave Shirley's specifications by Queen, supposedly on the Schatt & Morgan "line."

Note: The original box for those Scagels was/is a very unique white plastic two piece box with a couple of engraved plastic plates on it. A special box for a very special knife. Each of the Scagels are gorgeous!

We are all just prisoners here of our own device.
In the master's chamber they gather for the feast.
They stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast.
