That whole decade of the 70's, with WISS, COOPER, et al were pretty dark days...
It was, especially for trying to figure out who made what. It was a good day when Boker was able to re-aquire the US rights, and open back up here.

Did United use steel from Boker, or steel from some Solingen, Germany Steel Factory maybe? From their tang stamp it sure appears as if they were given some huge allowances in usage of Boker's trademarks. On the surface seems like a bad move on Boker's part. I wonder what the "rest of the story" is.

I thought I had seen this knife before. Here's a link to a thread in which we were discussing a knife like yours.

If the knife really is pre-WW2, the handle material should be bone. That's a keeper.
Nice thing about the Bokers is nobody knows anything about them - so you can get a good deal on a nice old knive.

Just saw another one of these on ebay.

Note that this one has the BOKER/USA tang stamp, which is generally thought to be made after WW2.

here is a pic of the blades that are stiil on the knife, they still have great snap and alot of use in them. there are no chips or cracks on the handles and the liners and springs look nice still.

Howdy! Just was catching up on the Boker Studies forum and glad to see another old Boker like mine. I saw the recent listing for the 5974 on ebay, too. I'm still hoping to learn more history about it. Like Blue says, nobody knows much about them and that makes me more curious. While the blades on mine are pretty well ground, it has amazing snap and the half stops are super tight. The scales are definitely bone, though. Just an extremely well made congress.

I've seen the "tree brand classic" etch on knives made as early as 1976. I think that is about the time they first started using the "classic" etch. The reasoning behind it is probably lost to history, but I suspect it was used on knife patterns that Boker had been making for a long time.

Your 2526 pattern is a single blade vesion of the 2525, which is a two blade hunter pattern with a clip and spey blade. I like the singe blade best!
