Post by jerryd6818 »

Lyle, are you involved with this project? If so, how do I get in line for one?

I'm excited for these!

Not sure if Lyle's involved, but I know Charlie's mentioned having a barlow on the pattern in the works.

I'm pretty sure Lyle hasn't seen this. He's pretty good about quick answers if he sees the question.

Yes Jerry,I am involved, don't know much at this time. I didn't know the cat was out of the bag until I read about it in BF this morning. Questions arose there and I posted there to alleviate the questions.

Bill Howard called me last week and we talked about a couple things, one being his usage of the Lick Creek name on the boy's knife.I said if so, I should probably have a SFO Lick Creek version of such, nothing is finalized about that.So a SFO is very much a possibility, suggestions?

I wrote about the same subject of the Lick Creek knife history on AAPK ( at the time Bill and I were the only ones privy outside of GEC) It's why I never mentioned it here:

This is what I wrote at BF, post #45:

Thanks Lyle. I know you're old and forgetful ::poke:: but please try and remember me when those #14s come out (2 blade variation). Even though it's a skosh shorter, it will fit right into my little medium jack collection. Besides, daddy like. ::nod::

The jigging on the GEC SFO rope knives turned out really nice. The color of the brown jigged bone coyotes is eye catching. If you could combine the two with a propeller shield that would be my fantasy #14 SFO... Whatever you decide put me down for one too!

They did indeed turn out very nice. Very pleased with the one I just received. Ordered a two blade also but they weren't in stock yet at the dealer so it's on back order.

Thanks to everybody for their support.

I thought I'd relate some information on the labels. All boys knives that GEC turned out except my knives were packaged as Ken's knife. Mine had the same front label as last year's farmers jack as shown below, with a different back label. All GEC's and mine had the "Cracker Jack" surprise story inside, which I wrote, GEC's having a different story for each handle.

The little guy on GEC's label is me standing in front of the upper house's porch (Mamaw and Papaw Fry's home place) in 1954.This is my label with the little house at the bottom, I was born in , and the upper house is the Fry home place, where I was standing in 1954 when GEC's label picture was taken.

Here's the original picture GEC used for their label.

Something so apprehensive to me ,turned out quite fun in the end.

Here's:

1. my labeling this year, same as last year, except back label
2. original picture
3.GEC's label
