#23 Calico Bone
#23 Calico Bone
Have you ever seen one? No you haven't but there is one,,,,,MINE! 1 of 1 actually, this knife was originally a Buffalo Horn that was pulling loose from the frame and screwing up the look so I talked GEC and they rehandled it for me and Christine told me it's the only one.

Re: #23 Calico Bone
I like Calico bone as well, smooth or jigged it doesn't matter,I would love to have a #42 with Calico bone I think it's under used...but,that could be a good thing.I liked autumn gold jigged bone, now it seems to be everywhere.
Re: #23 Calico Bone
Thanks fellas! The Calico does look like the Case Appaloosa,,,,a lot!

Re: #23 Calico Bone
It does and they both are under used, it is a great look for any style knife.
Case had some stuff they called rose bone around the same time and it to is some very nice looking handle material, but the Appaloosa is and has been my favorite of the smooth bone handles.

Hey knifetime, your Case Barlow is very very nice! Do I see a slight groove in the bone, near the butt end?

Not that I can see singin46,and thank you. It must be variation in the color.
Hear is another Barlow, only deference is the newer one's are ss and the older ones are carbon steel blades. Look at the deference in color.
singin46,that GEC you posted is a very good looking knife , GEC did a very nice job, and a one of a kind.

Re: #23 Calico Bone
Thank you sir! I thought they did too. I was hoping they could do something to make it a solid new knife again.
That's a purity one too! Like the darker brown tones in it.

Re: #23 Calico Bone
Perry,
Pardon me while I drool on your knife! That is one beautiful knife and the handle looks almost like my Kershaw Macho with what I thought was called was called Buffalo Bone. That is a beautiful bone and I'm not sure it's not used more often.

Sorry for the late response. Mickey it's actually a pattern 23 Pioneer. The bigger trapper than the 73 Scout trapper. These were the first and only 2 knife patterns offered by the new GEC company in 2006.mickeyevans wrote:Hey Perry. Great knife. IS IT A ENGLISH Jack? 2 blades?

You know, I wouldn't be parting with that one either, Paul! When you get a very unique knife, you sure know it! They don't make them anymore and who knows if they ever will.
