Re: GEC Factory Video
I watched this and learned a lot about how a knife is made. That whole operations seems about as close to "handmade" as it is going to be.
Re: GEC Factory Video
CC Very informative, Thanks for sharing. Are the other two parts available? Its a lot of work to make a pocket knife. BHClassic Case wrote:Saw this posted at blade forums,..pretty cool 3 part video.

Thanks for the link, Classic Case. I learned a lot and got my first close up look at Bill Howard. I think a full scale interview with him would be fascinating.

Side note: Did you notice they didn't make the guy from "Outdoors" put on safety glasses until almost half way through the tour?

That impressed me. That old boy knew what he was doing and has spent some time on the line.tjmurphy wrote:Good to see the president of a company with dirty hands

Re: GEC Factory Video
What great videos! And not just because it features my Barlow!!
That Old Boy routinely takes his place on the line when someone is sick or away!
He personally handmade the first real Case Classic Prototypes, not the hundreds that proliferated later!
And he's taught virtually everyone in his employ how to make knives. There is almost no supply of trained cutlers in America! God Bless him!!
We need more Americans creating jobs for Americans!*

Re: GEC Factory Video
Excellent videos. I've been through the GEC factory but not while they were working. To see each step take place makes me appreciate my GECs even more.

Boys i'll tell ya what! If I was a younger man, i'd be buggin' the daylights out of those folks, to give me a job. Not sure how much my take home pay would be, after I paid for my weekly purchases. But man, what a cool place to work!!

That's funny because the whole time I was watching those videos I was thinking to myself "if I lived in PA I would pester them everyday until they gave me a job. Even if I had to start off just sweeping the floors."
