53 Muskrat fans?

Show 'em if you got 'em. :) Honestly, what with their duplicity of blades, they've never really appealed to me but I've been thinking I might try one anyway. I think I can learn to love it.

I thought the same thing...probably because I was listening to everyone else say the same thing " duplicity of blades",but then I realized, hey this is the same blade as the stockman with the exception of the nail nick moved further down the blade and now I have two.......glass half empty half full theory....

Really though.I'm a fan of the equal end pattern in this size,,it just fits the hand right and it's just as comfortable in the pocket...when you look at the MFT the sheepfoot blade is exposed more from the frame and I prefer to use this blade and keep the muskrat blade closed..a heck more comfortable.

So what you're looking at is a NF Snakewood Muskrat 07',GEC MFT Red Stag 10',GEC B.S. Muskrat 08',NF B.S.Muskrat 08',NF MFT B.S. 10' and NF Gen. Stag Stockman 11'....and what's interesting you'll notice nail nicks change thickness on the 07' and 08' between the NF and GEC.

Well I am showing my 53 but I do not think she is a Muskrat.

GEC 538308 Horsecut Stained Green Tea #016 of 50 SS 4"

It is hard to understand the two or 3 differant paterns with the same patern number?/// 53

Never been one much for the Muskrat pattern either. But not too long ago I manage to get a group of Queen-built Robeson Improved Muskrats and since then I kind of warmed up to the pattern. After those I jumped at a couple deals for some earlier Great Eastern pieces.

I'm really liking them.........

Been eyeing a couple of the Furtaker variants as a possible next purchase.

i'll try to sort thru some of mine. i like the profile of the straight musk cuban best but have quite a few of the fur musks also. for a musk they have a heavier wider blade than many other companies. have done a few squirrels with one of mine in yellow rose but i think the blade profiles are better suited for rabbits & larger game even up to texas whitetail. HiPower--- i believe the only 2 acrylics made with the same blades at each end were the grits & molasses & the fall harvest.i'll try to research it more in a day or two.

And HiPower...one more ....Twilight Acrylic as Monk shows us..but that was it.....all the others were bone, but I'm gonna wait and see if you can pull any unknowns from your collections.

big monk Hello;

I see your 07'Antique Green Bone. Is that the same as "Horsecut Stained Green Tea" ?

They look so much alike (except the jigging). Best to see in hand to get the total look.

See my photo scroll up

What is the difference (except for the dates on the tang) between the 2007 bocote & the 2011 bocote muskrat? Was it just popular enough to warrant another production run? ::shrug:: ::shrug::
Factory pic of the 2011 version.

At first I thought it was the quality of Bocote used since the 2011 original was listed simple as Bocote and not the Exotic Bocote like the 2007 ....but now the only noticeable different is the blade etch size between the two.....still need both....here's the 2007

This Antique Green Bone Improved Muskrat was actually my very first GEC … this is the knife that started my GEC infatuation …
Tidioute03.jpg
… I popped it out of the tube, and the heft, scale, and build quality just blew me away … I literally laughed out loud ...

I have since snagged Bocote, Genuine Stag, and Snakewood #53 Muskrats … but I don't have pics of any of 'em !
