Hey Mike, great minds think alike! I've been carrying mine pretty much all the time since making a trade for one as well. Kind of spoils you as far the other EDCs are concerned.

I'm really eager to see that, Lyle. Any idea about the timing of the unveiling?wlf wrote:Mike, I think that antique yellow looks great too.I can hardly wait to see it incorporated with the new jigging Bill's doing on my SFO #38 farmers jacks .

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
Here's a couple nice American Elk 1/2 Congress knives (one sheepfoot, one wharncliffe) with acorn shields that I recently got in a trade with bkazz5. Curious thing...the acorn shield on the wharncliffe version is smaller than the one on the sheepfoot...I wonder why?

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
Thanks Mark.
I agree...they definitely are special. Now comes the hard part: keeping them pristine and tucked away securely in the collection (safe queens) and NOT carrying at least one of them on my person at all times.

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
After a long search and much assistance by fellow AAPK members, I finally picked up this SFO #85 Smooth Ivory Bone, Single Blade, Bullet End Jack, EZ Open, Liner Lock. Not an easy knife to find (for sale at a reasonable price anyway), about as common as hen's teeth as far as that goes.
Thanks for all the help, guys...(you know who you are)...VERY much appreciated.
Especially Jay (JAYLUPARK) who found this one in his collection and agreed to sell it to me for a really fair price. You Da Man, Jay! (PS He currently has a bunch of other really cool knives for sale on the Bay that I highly recommend checking out.)
Cheers & Aloha,

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
Thanks caddyman...I still can't believe it sometimes myself. But, like I said: it was a group effort...I couldn't have done it on my own without all the help from my AAPK brothers. One thing about buying from, swapping with or selling a knife to a fellow AAPK member: you know it's going to a good home where it will be loved and well-cared for. Most of these knives I swap have become almost like a member of the family to me, as I'm sure many others can relate to.

#82 in Osage Orange.
I really like the size (4 3/16") and all 3 blade selections.
The blades sit low in the frame (when closed).
More great ones from GEC.

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
That's a beauty, Mark, and one that I would definitely carry and use (depending on the difficulty of the pull) How would you rate the pull on that one?

Thx QQTCut5 wrote:That's a beauty, Mark, and one that I would definitely carry and use (depending on the difficulty of the pull) How would you rate the pull on that one?

It is one of the lighter pulls that I ve had on a GEC. I would say a 5 or 6. Definitely NOT a hard or heavy pull. NO halfstops on this one. Smooth opening.
The African Blackwood with the slanted bolsters look good too...
Mark
That 85 smooth ivory bone is great. Love it
Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
I finally broke down and got this #42 Natural Stag Missouri Trader. I was hoping to find one with a wharncliffe blade, but the stag on this one was just too beautiful to pass up. It's a big knife, though, bigger than I realized. If I were ever to carry this pattern, I would have to use a belt sheath...too big for pocket carry, impo.
