Too many beautiful knives...so little money...sometimes it just requires a giant "leap of faith" and worry about the consequences later.

PS--I realize that the Ivories are Northwoods...but, since they're made by GEC, technically I felt they could be included in this thread.

Mahalo, Phillll....here's my latest acquisition: Northwoods Norfolk in Calico Bone. I love it so much I think I'm probably going to wear it out before it even has a chance to cut anything...it just feels so good in the pocket and has such a smooth pull...I find myself actively looking for reasons to take it out and open it up...even if it's just to show it off (which I do frequently...even if it's just to myself).

PS--As much as I wish it were, that's not me in the background of the photo.

They certainly are, and Barry's gottem! Here's one I recently acquired, tortoise shell acrylic. Take the older Scout type knives out of your drawer, look at the bails, blades and walk and talk. Now take a look at one of these and you'll see what I mean. High level of quality, without a doubt!
Love it, hate it, I don't care, they are NICE! Not knocking the old knives, Lord knows I have my share but GEC is doin some cool stuff these days.

I think I'd prefer a pen blade to a caplifter (since I'm never without a Pioneer) but that sure is a pretty knife!

I collect Toothpicks & Powderhorns and I picked up these two earlier this week. The first is a burnt stag Toothpick that GEC produced for Cripple Creek in 2010 and the other is a 2011 Northfield Powderhorn with elephant ivory covers.

Snagged meself a couple of Northfield #77 stag barlows recently.

Does anybody happen to know if GEC ever made this model with a clip point blade? (If so, I would really like to get one.)

And this sweet little whittler was sent to me by my good buddy Ivoryman after he attended the OKCA show. I just love the beaver shield.

Yeah, we were discussing the coolness factor of the beaver shield...and it got us to thinking about our new Beer Scouts with that ugly, redundant "Beer Scout Knife" banner shield. Why couldn't GEC come up with a better shield like the beaver shield? I mean, seriously, if they can produce a highly figured beaver shield, why can't they come up with a unique and appropriate shield for the Beer Scout knives? Does GEC have abslutely no creative imagination in their design department or what exactly is the problem? Just between me and Ivoryman we managed to come up with at least a half dozen different shield designs that were way cooler than the one GEC chose to put on an otherwise very cool knife. Consider, for example a stylized beer mug topped with foam with the letters "BS" engraved on it. Simple yet distinctive. How hard could it be to pin a cool, unique shield on a new Knife? Not to mention how much more desireable it would be to collectors and beer lovers alike, thus increasing sales. Sometimes I just do not understand the choices made by knife companies like GEC...C'mon, dudes...if you want to increase sales and desirability/collectibility, it seems so obvious that you've got to be innovative and creative and produce unique and novel designs that collectors will want to snatch up. I would be happy to provide sketches and designs for new shields, and, in fact I have, but not one of them has ever been accepted even though I was offering them for free. Apparently GEC isn't interested in unsolicited design ideas from unknown amateur knife collectors. What a shame, when you consider the unlimited possibilities of thinking outside the box...even on traditional slipjoint folders. I mean, seriously, what did it take for them to eventually produce the beaver shield anyway? That's not a "traditional" shield design.

Thoughts anyone?
