Nice looking pair you have there, Monk. What is the handle material on the orangy-colored one (bottom knife in photo), micarta, perhaps?

GEC 47 Viper. First GEC stamped knife for me, of many. One of the finest knives I've ever seen/had. For 78 bucks feels like a steal next to the Northwoods that I love. Built like a Freemont, snaps like one, feels solid like one and $51 dollars less investment. What's wrong with that? I will get more 47s.

Tip broke off my beloved Viper here, so I had to grind a new one. Pains me to say it, looking at it turns my stomach, but love it too much to leave it back on the trail. Had to do some primitive surgery and will be scarred for life, but at least can carry on and do about everything needed. It's just cosmetic. Trying to convince myself anyway. Hurts saying it.

Thanks JBug and Edge, appreciate that. Still hurts, looked so good before and it wasn't very old. Looks different now. Gunstocks always looked like a good shape to fit the hand, how's yours? Looks about perfect size and shape, cool knife.

Tidioute TC Barlow, Sheepfoot, Old Tan jigged bone, long pull. Excels, love it, if it had a cord tube might be near a holy grail kind of knife. #15 Barlow is a favorite here.
