Cool Scout Monk, way better shield than the one that says "Beer Scout Knife." And one of the best micarta colors IMO. Sweet stag on the Northfield too.

My favorite has to be the Washington Jack SFO, just an absolutely stunning knife in my opinion.

As a newbie to finer knife brands ... gotta say these GEC's are really impressive. I love real gnarly stag & just the quality of these knives and really cool unusual patters makes them stand out.

Question ... I'm thinning my herd on eBay & there will be a primo GEC in my future. I've noticed there aren't very many on eBay & the selection is rather limited (which is where I do 99.9% of my knife hunting). Do you guys that buy GEC's favor private knife dealers or eBay ? Any suggestions on where to look would be welcome ... thx.

The most popular ones are difficult to find because Great Eastern makes so few of each particular frame pattern and especially handle material. Browse through the production totals for each year. -- http://greateasterncutlery.net/blog/inf ... 6-present/ -- Yeah, they made quite a few knives but not very many of any one particular pattern and handle material.

Take for example, my favorite GEC. I was lucky enough to get an UN-X-LD Improved Trapper made in 2013 with the Wharncliffe blade and burnt stag handles. Look below to see how many were made.

Bottom line? Get 'em where you can find 'em. Authorized dealers have the most. eBay and AAPK Stores come next. Then there's AAPK Members, Face Book or the one you stumble onto in the most unlikely of places. Good luck. They're worth the hunt.

I sure like the #63, #64 and the #65 knives. The #65 Fools Gold is the first GEC acrylic I've bought. I really like it but have to say that it looks more like crushed pineapple than fools gold. The smooth calico is my favorite...just wish they made the lockback with a swing guard.

That #25 is a good looker..sure like the EZ open on it. I know GEC's are a quality knife but it amazes me what people are asking for the #25. I have a #25 barlow in sawcut tan bone and wish I had more. The long, triple lined bolster really makes them stand out. Wish I could find one in the smooth yellow bone at a reasonable price.

Got that right and thanks for the compliment. But there are some out there online and even in the AAPK store like this if you want to browse.

I'm spending way too much time on Facebook. I keep looking for the 'like' button on all these pics of some good lookin' knives.

Was doing some knife maintenance the other day and came across one that I don't think I've posted before. 2006 Tidioute 73 in Walnut Herringbone. Notice the shield on this one. Upside-down.
